| The target station contained the four emulsion targets, in which the tau
neutrinos interacted, and the scintillating fiber detectors, located between the
emulsion targets. The targets consisted of stacks of sheets, alternately steel and
emulsion, with a total of 50 layers. Most interactions happened in the steel,
which accounted for most of the target weight. The emulsion continuously recorded all particles passing through. The scintillating fiber system recorded only tracks during the few nanoseconds it took for an interesting event to occur.
