The members of the Fermilab Director Search Committee have continued to be very busy. In February we began contacting individuals to further evaluate their credentials and determine their interest. After extensive committee discussions, we moved forward to perform a series of in-person interviews with qualified candidates.

As part of the search process, the committee seeks input from Fermilab employees and the physics community. Employees and users are encouraged to participate in the search process by attending one of several meetings or by sending written comments and suggestions.

Current director Pier Oddone announced in August that he would retire on July 1, 2013, prompting Fermi Research Alliance LLC Board Chairman and University of Chicago President Bob Zimmer to begin the process of appointing a committee to conduct an international search for Oddone's successor.

Oddone will continue to serve as Fermilab director until July 1, 2013, while a committee appointed by the FRA Board Chairman conducts an international search for his successor.
