Prescription Safety Eyewear Notice

DNS appliance software upgrade on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Network Services will upgrade the Infoblox DNS server software to improve service stability and security on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. 1. If your computer is centrally managed and is properly configured, this upgrade should be transparent to you. 2. If your computer is not centrally managed or is not properly configured, you may experience a 5- to 10-minute service disruption when your machine’s primary DNS server is being rebooted. If you have any questions about this upgrade, please contact the Service Desk.

NALWO - Bulb and plant exchange event - Oct 11, 12 noon - 1 p.m.
Do you have bulb flowers which are ready to be divided? Did you end up with too many bulbs to plant? Do you have small shrubs in the wrong place? Would you like to try some new plants without a lot of cost? We have the solution. Come to the User's Center parking lot on Thursday, Oct 11, from 12 noon to 1 pm. Plants and bulbs can be given away ot exchanged; nothing can be sold. Please include some basic information with your bulbs/plants: color or flowers, shade or sun-loving, how tall when grown, etc. Please, spread the word! Hope to see you at the event! Upcoming changes to VPN client software
An upgrade to new VPN hardware is expected to occur soon. A new version of the VPN client software, which is what you use to connect to the Fermilab network from off site, is required to work with the hardware. Prairie Harvest
FNA and FRA are inviting you to come and help us collect Prairie seed on Saturday October 6. We will start at 10:00 am and end at 2:00 pm. No experience is necessary please dress accordingly. The harvest will be held in the Maing Ring Savanna, as you come on site we will have signs to direct you there. We will serve a small lunch, water and soft drinks. Muscle Toning begins October 4
The next session of Muscle Toning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 4 - December 18 (no class November 15 & November 22), at the fitness center from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Fee is $100/per for 20 classes. Applications being accepted for Wilson Fellowship
The Wilson Fellowship at Fermilab seeks applications from Ph.D. physicists of exceptional talent with at least two years of postdoctoral experience. The fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis and is intended to support strong, assistant professor-level physicists early in their careers. Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle update
30 minutes of exercise, three days a week, is all it takes to participate in the Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle program at Fermilab. We are entering our final four weeks of the program. Heartland Blood Drive
Fermilab will host a walk-in only Heartland Blood Drive October 8 & 9 8am-2pm in the WH ground floor training room. Anyone who donated on Tuesday, Aug.14 will not be able to donate Monday, Oct. 8 but may on Tuesday, Oct. 9. DRC appointments can be reserved by contacting Diana x3771. Unscheduled DRC's may be available by checking with HBC staff. Appointments will help collect the most units possible for those in need. Donors will receive a special edition t-shirt. The August drive collected 73 life saving pints of blood. Your donation can save 3 lives. Flu shots won't defer donors, please give.

Mac users: Upcoming changes to VPN client software.
An upgrade to new VPN hardware (VPN is what you use to connect to the Fermilab network from offsite.) is expected to occur in early October. In order for your VPN client software on your computer to work with the new hardware, a new version of the client software is required. All centrally managed Mac OSX laptops that are communicating correctly with Casper have been updated with the correct version.
