SciTech Preschool Open House - Feb. 11, 18 & 25
The SciTech Museum’s Discovery Preschool in downtown Aurora invites parents and kids to see and experience one of the only S.T.E.M. based curriculum preschools in the country. This is an open-house type format program with "try-it" opportunity for you and your preschooler! When: Saturdays, Feb. 11, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, Mar. 3, and Mar. 10;Time: 10 am- 12 pm. No admission fee. On Site Housing Requests for Summer of 2012 now accepted
Requests for reservations of on-site houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms for the SUMMER of 2012 can now be submitted to the Fermilab Housing Office. Please submit your request by Monday, Mar. 5. For further information, please contact the Housing Office at (630) 840-3777 or housing@fnal.gov. Individual housing requests can be made by using our online Housing Request form at http://bss.fnal.gov/accommodations/housing_request.html. Barn dance - Feb. 12
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn. This dance features music by rising stars Eye of the Monkey and calling by Nashville caller T-Claw. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun! Martial arts classes
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on Feb. 20. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, bow staff, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 p.m. at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before.

URA Visiting Scholars Program deadline - Feb. 29
Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) has announced a deadline of Feb. 29 for the submission of applications for the Spring 2012 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. Successful applicants will be notified at the end of Mar. 2012. Embedded Design with LabVIEW FPGA and CompactRIO class scheduled - Feb. 23
This hands-on session utilizes National Instruments LabVIEW graphical embedded development tools and off-the-shelf prototyping systems. "5 Treasures" Qigong for Stress Relief begins Jan. 23
"Five Treasures" is a short, easy to learn, set of Qigong exercises. Specific attention on coordination of breath, posture and intention. This is a more in-depth approach compared to the drop-in classes on Wednesday and Friday.
