Nobel Laureate Prof. Carlo Rubbia to present during Muon Accelerator Program Spring Collaboration Meeting Monday, May 18, 2015

Fermilab Pool Open June 9th...Memberships Available
Pool open Tuesday, June 9-Sunday, August 16. Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 12-7pm, Saturday & Sunday, 1-6pm. Closed Mondays. Pool membership open to Fermi employees, retirees, visiting researchers, contractors, onsite DOE employees, students & immediate families living in the same household. Memberships are not transferable and are non-refundable. Memberships are sold in the Wellness Office of WH15W, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm. Single Membership $130. Family Membership $305 (up to 4 family members, additional family members over 4 are $55). Lifeguards do not sell memberships. They do sell daily passes. Daily Rate $8/person. Road Closure
Indian Road, near AP-30 and MC-1, will be closed on Saturday May 16, 2015 from 7:30am to about 12:00 noon. Only Emergency vehicles and Authorized personnel will be allowed through the closure.

Outdoor Soccer
Outdoor Soccer is on Tuesdays (6:00 pm – 9:00 pm) and Thursdays (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm) and Sundays (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm) at the Village Soccer Field. Please contact O'Sheg Oshinowo at Oshinowo@fnal.go for more information.

LArSoft Workshop on June 3 - register now
The LArSoft Architecture and Testing Workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 3, starting at 9:00 a.m. in Fermilab's Hornets Nest – WH8X. ServiceNow new look and feel
Computing has updated the ServiceNow service desk website to a new release. After this update, the first time you log in, you will be presented with a screen that provides a general overview of the new functionality in this ServiceNow release (there are three screens in total). Members of Computing will be on hand to answer questions at the "Ask me about ServiceNow" booth in the Wilson Hall Atrium on Wednesday, May 13, from noon to 1:30.

Managing Conflict (half-day) on June 10
This class is for individuals who want to boost their conflict management skills. Learn to accept and manage conflict more effectively. Upon completing this half day class, you will be able to identify your default conflict management style, how to capitalize on various conflict management styles, accept conflict as an inevitable part of all work situations, be aware of the positive and negative byproducts of conflict on the job, understand how to establish a cooperative atmosphere in which to resolve conflicts as they arise, and learn and practice a step-by-step collaborative approach to resolving conflict. Mac OS X security patches Tues., May 12
On Tues., May 12 from 7:00 a.m., the Core Computing Division is enabling OS X updates for Mac computers running OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Mavericks (10.9.5) and Mountain Lion (10.8.5). Alerts will prompt manual installation or you can select the "Updates" tab in the App Store; no restart is required. If you do not install manually now, automatic install will begin on Tues., May 19. If you experience any issues, please submit a Service Desk ticket.

LDRD Preliminary Proposals due May 29
Laboratory Directed Research and Developement (LDRD) funds employee initiated projects at the forefront of science and technology that are aligned with the missions of DOE and Fermilab. Start with your new novel idea that you want to explore! See the LDRD web site (ldrd.fnal.gov). A first required step is a 1 page Preliminary Proposal that is due May 29, 2015. Additional information can be obtained from William Wester, LDRD Coordinator (wester@fnal.gov).

Wednesday Walkers Begins

Adult Water Aerobics at Fermilab Pool
Adult Water Aerobics will be offered on two separate days this year at the Fermilab Pool. Sign up for Mondays or Wednesdays or both. Monday sessions will be held June 15 to August 3 from 11:30am-12:15pm. Fee is $65. Registration closes Monday, June 8. Wednesday sessions will be held June 17 to August 5 from 11:30am-12:15pm. Swim Lessons at Fermilab Pool
Four sessions of preschool and youth swim lessons will be offered this summer at the Fermilab Pool. First session is Monday-Thursday, June 15-June 25. Fridays will be used as makeup days if needed. Preschool Lessons are 10:15-11am. All other youth should sign up for Beginner Lessons from 9:30-10:15am (children will be assessed the first day and placed in an appropriate swim lesson group based on ability). Living Green! new Fermilab Library book display
Living Green! is the new book display in the Fermilab Library. We have several books to browse through, along with an audio cd about harnessing the sun and ocean for energy. Topics include solar and wind energy, turbines, climate change. Also on display are copies of our journal Home Power. Check out the WATT Detective kit. Fermilab Board Game Guild
The Fermilab Board Game Guild meets every Tuesday at the User's Center from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Everyone is welcome, and no connection with Fermilab is required. Board games played include, but are not limited to, Puerto Rico, Ticket To Ride, Seven Wonders, Stone Age, Attica, Alhambra, Citadels, and many more. Interpersonal Communication Skills on May 20
