Budker Seminar, Monday, February 9 at 5:00 pm
Please join us at the User's Center Monday, February 9 for the monthly Budker Seminar which begins at 5:00 pm. Free pizza and beverages will be served. The speaker is Jeff Eldred from Indiana University. Title: Proposed Harmonic Cavity for Enhanced Dynamical Stability of Slip-stacking. Abstract: Slip-stacking is an accumulation technique that involves two RF cavities at near but distinct frequencies operating on the same beamline. In this Budker seminar, we propose a new RF cavity at a frequency that is double the average of the other two frequencies and out of phase by pi.

Barn Dance February 8
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by Can I Get an Amen and calling by Bill Sudkamp. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun! Admission is $6, children under 12 are free, 12 to 18 year olds and people over 65 are $3. Callipygian Players - Baroque Trio at Fermilab Gallery Series - 2/15 at 2:30 pm
The Callipygian Players are an ensemble of Chicago's finest period instrument musicians and singers under the leadership of Baroque Violinist Martin Davids. They present innovative and exciting concerts of music from the Baroque era. Known for interesting programming, their concerts feature music of well known composers as well as lesser known masterpieces. Group includes Martin Davids, violin; David Schrader, harpsichord; and Craig Trompeter, baroque cello and viola da gamba. They recently released a CD of the sonatas of Henry Eccles. Cirque Zuma Zuma at Fermilab Arts Series - 2/7 at 7pm

School's Day Out: February 16 and 27
School's Day Out : February 16 and 27 School's out Day Camp: Feb. 16 and 27. Childcare for school age children (7-12 years) will be offered at Kuhn Barn from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., cost is $25.00 per camper/per day. Enrollment will be accepted until noon on Wednesday, Feb. 11 for the Feb. 16 date and Monday, Feb. 23 for the Feb. 27 date. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The program will be cancelled if less than 7 register. Campers will need to bring a lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Beverage at lunch, morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Barnstormers Delta Dart Night
Barnstormers Delta Dart Night Wednesday, February 11, starting promptly at 5:30pm at the Kuhn Barn. Delta Darts are small rubber band powered airplanes that can be built in less than an hour and then flown indoors. Anyone can build and fly one of these airplanes and have loads of fun. Flying will immediately follow building for prizes. All required materials will be provided by the Barnstormers. Competition flying will start at 7pm sharp. English country dancing Sunday afternoons, February 8 and March 1, at Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will be held Sunday, February 8, at Kuhn Village Barn (rescheduled after the snow-related cancellation of Feb. 1). The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome to join this social and accessible sort of dancing. The group meets monthly, year-round. The next dance is on Sunday, March 1, with live music by Old Fezziwig's Band. Fermi Singers seek new members in New Year!
The Fermi Singers are seeking new members in the New Year! We meet each week on Wednesday from noon to 1pm on the Ramsey Auditorium stage in Wilson Hall. URA Thesis Award Competition
Fermilab and the Universities Research Association invite submissions for the eighteenth annual URA Thesis Award competition. Nominations must be submitted to Lenny Spiegel at lenny@fnal.gov by March 20, 2015 and should include two letters supporting the merits of the thesis being nominated. At least one letter should be from a member of the thesis committee of the PhD granting institution and, for work carried out in collaboration with Fermilab scientists, at least one of the letters should come from one of those scientists. Getting paid the greener way - get paperless pay stubs
Thinking of using less paper in 2015? Wanting to simplify your life? Sign up for a paperless pay stub! Simply send an email to askpayroll@fnal.gov, and request that you no longer receive paper pay stubs. If every employee signed up for paperless pay stubs, we would save almost 50,000 pieces of paper per year, not to mention ink, toner and the electricity used by the printers. To view your paycheck electronically, go to the Fermilab at Work/ Work Resources page, select Employee Self Service and sign in with your Fermilab ID and employee self service password. Click on Self Service, then View Paycheck. Past paychecks are viewable online.

Windows 8.1 approved for use
Desktop Engineering has approved the Windows 8.1 operating system for use across Fermilab. From Thursday, January 15, users will be able to submit a Service Desk ticket to request Windows 8.1 for use on their current equipment, or request Windows 8.1 to be installed when they receive new hardware. Please submit a Service Desk ticket if would like to request Windows 8.1 or you have any questions.

Scottish country dancing Tuesday evenings at Kuhn Barn
Silk and Thistle Scottish country dancing is held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. The group is taught by Doug Jensen.
