Lifestyle Patterns Approach to Weight Management
Start the New Year out right. This 10 week convenient workplace program will be led by Tiffany Davis, MS, RD, LDN. Tiffany is a Licensed and Registered Dietitian with a strong passion for nutritional counseling. Tiffany believes that nutrition therapy is not only about food quality and quantity but more importantly one’s relationship with food. She recognizes the impact that stress, depression, and anxiety can have on one’s eating. As a Dietitian, she effectively works with individuals motivating, educating and inspiring to bring about life long changes. Taiji and Qigong for Health
Two days offered. Wednesdays starting Jan. 7, 7-8 a.m. Fridays starting Jan. 9, noon-1 p.m. Both classes are held in the Auditorium. Sign-up is required. Contact Seton Handville at x2152.

Ultimate Core Class Registration Due January 2
Participants learn a variety of exercises designed to increase core strength. This strength training workout focuses on increasing flexibility and strengthening the abdominal area. Suitable for any level of fitness! Class will be held on Fridays, Jan. 9-Feb. 13, noon-12:45 p.m. at the Fitness Center Exercise Room. Fee is $60. For Women Only Qigong Class
This relaxing and interesting hour of qigong and acupressure focuses on women's health, nutrition and stress management. Sign-up is requred. Contact Seton Handville at x2152. Class is held on Mondays, Jan. 5-Feb. 23, noon-1 p.m. in the Auditorium Auditorium.

Cafeteria holiday hours
The Wilson Hall Cafeteria will be open 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (Breakfast/Grill Only) on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Cafeteria hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29, 30, and Jan. 2.

Pilates Registration Due December 29
Pilates is an excellent way to reduce back pain, strengthen your core and increase flexibility. This class focuses on low impact floor exercises that target the deep muscles of the abdomen and spine. Some of the major benefits include improved posture, balance, core strength, flexibility and long, lean muscles without excess bulk. Sign up for this class to strengthen that aching back, firm up that flabby belly and tone that drooping posterior. Not recommended for individuals with osteoporosis. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) end of life January 12, 2015
On January 12, 2015, any Apple Computer running Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) will be blocked from accessing the Fermilab network. This operating system is no longer supported by Apple and therefore, no longer receives security updates. Fermilab-owned computers, by laboratory policy, must run vendor-supported operating systems to avoid security risks. If your Fermilab-owned computer is running Mac OS X 10.7, please contact the Service Desk immediately by calling x2345 or via the web interface at https://fermi.service-now.com/fsc/ to determine whether your computer can be upgraded. Computers that cannot be upgraded must be excessed or removed from the Fermilab network.

Scottish country dancing Tuesday evenings throughout December and into January at Kuhn Barn
Scottish country dancing is held Tuesday evenings in Kuhn Village Barn from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and will take place without a break through December 2014 and into January, as they prepare for the New Year's Ball Weekend January 16-18 in St. Charles, with nationally famous musicians Earl Gaddis and Karen Axelrod. The group is usually taught by Doug Jensen. Newcomers are always welcome and are paired with experienced dancers -- no need to come with a partner. Occasionally there is live music. 2015 Float Holiday
As in previous years, the 2015 Float Holiday will not be available for use on your January 2015 timecards. You will be able to select and use it beginning Feb. 1, 2015. If you plan on using your 2015 float holiday in January 2015 please e-mail the Payroll Manager at lsmith@fnal.gov before you complete your timecard and the hours will be manually set up for your use on the timecard.

Holiday wishes from the Employee Advisory Group
The Employee Advisory Group will be handing out candy canes at a booth in the Wilson Hall atrium Thursday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to stop by!

Yoga Thursdays registration due December 30

Gym membership not required for this open house class held in the Exercise Room at the Fitness Center from 12pm – 12:30pm on Monday, December 22. Gym will be open. Free Lower Body Blitz Class December 19
Gym membership not required for this open house class held in the Exercise Room at the Fitness Center from 12pm – 12:30pm on Friday, December 19. Gym will be open. This Lower Body workout includes exercises for your hips, buns and thighs that are designed to help burn fat and tone up your muscles in your lower body. International folk dancing holiday party, Thursday Dec. 18, then break till Jan 8
International folk dancing will hold a Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 18, 7:30 p.m. at Kuhn Barn. In addition to international favorites, there will be some special dances for Hanukkah and Christmas. The group will then not meet until Thursday, Jan. 8, resuming weekly Thursday dancing then. Newcomers are always welcome. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early and request dancing later on. The group dances year- round, moving to Ramsey Auditorium if the Barn is not available. Timecards for Dec 15-21 are due early (Due: Thursday Dec 18)
Timecards for Week of Dec 15-21 are due early. •Employees submit their timecard by 10 a.m. Thursday Dec. 18. •Supervisors have all timecards approved by noon Thursday Dec. 18. •Payroll will sign off at noon (non exempt) and 3 p.m. (exempt) on Thursday Dec. 18. For the next week of December 22-28, if the timecard can be completed and approved before the required date (12/29) it would be appreciated however it is not mandatory. Health Screenings for Active Employees January 13 & 14 at Training Center
This screening offers active employees an opportunity to have their cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure and body composition checked. You will also meet one-on-one with a Health Coach to review results, ask questions, and discuss health and wellness resources. Employees that signed up last year should sign in as an Existing Customer. This 25 minute health screening is voluntary, confidential and offered at no charge to active employees. Fermilab Arts & Lecture Series Presents Chicago Harp Quartet
The Fermilab Gallery Chamber Series kicks off on Sunday, January 11 at 2:30 with the Chicago Harp Quartet-reception follows. Since its formation in 2012, the Chicago Harp Quartet has presented unique and charismatic performances on the concert stage across the country. Harpists with the CHQ have performed with some of the world's greatest ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Minnesota Orchestra, and the symphonies of Baltimore, Milwaukee, Symphony, St. Louis and Toronto, just to name a few, as well as festivals such as Ravinia and Aspen. SharePoint online training videos available for on-site users
On-site users can access more than 900 SharePoint training videos online through the Fermilab Library’s subscription. Writing for Results: Email and More on February 27

Cashier's office closed during holidays
The Cashier's Office will close at 3 pm on December 19 and reopen at 1 pm on January 6, 2015.

English country dancing Sunday afternoons, December 7 and January 4, at Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will be held Sunday, December 7, at Kuhn Village Barn. The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. We will be going over dances for our upcoming New Year's Ball weekend, Jan. 15-16, in St. Charles, with Earl Gaddis and Karen Axelrod. Newcomers are always welcome to join this social and accessible sort of dancing. The next dance is Sunday, January 4. The group meets monthly, year-round, with live music usually every other month.
