Message regarding Windows 8.1
Microsoft recently released Windows 8.1. Many of the tools required by Fermilab, such as Symantec Antivirus, must release updated products compatible with Windows 8.1. The Computing Sector will recommend approval for Windows 8.1 once these tools are integrated into our environment and testing is complete. The sector will work towards this goal as fast as we can, but the entire process may take several months. As a reminder, Fermilab has strict guidelines on adopting new operating systems. When Windows 8.1 is approved for use at Fermilab, we will make another announcement. Until then, Windows 8.1 is not allowed on Fermilab-owned equipment.
