FNPRT Upgrade Delayed until November 18
The FNPRT upgrade scheduled for Nov. 4 has been deferred to Nov. 18 due to concerns about some recently discovered problems in the underlying virtual server infrastructure supporting the new print server that need to be investigated and resolved.

Computer Security Awareness Day - Nov. 9
Complete required computer security training sessions and attend a variety of speed sessions about keeping your information and reputation safe online from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wilson Hall on Computer Security Awareness Day, Tuesday, Nov. 9. During the event, CD employees in the Wilson Hall atrium will also offer free USB drive scanning at the Password Doctor booth. All employees, friends and family members are invited to attend CSADay2010. Sessions are free and do not require registration. For more information, see http://security.fnal.gov/CSADAY2010

Turkey date for Thanksgiving dinner
International Services will play matchmaker again this Thanksgiving between volunteers at Fermilab who are hosting Thanksgiving dinners and anyone at Fermilab who does not already have Thanksgiving plans. Visit http://wdrs.fnal.gov/users/turkeydate/ to fill out a host or guest questionnaire. The program is open to anyone at Fermilab, domestic or international, user, employee or contractor. Annual Enrollment
Watch for your annual enrollment packet. It is on the way to your mail station. Resources including the enrollment form and the informational sessions schedule are available on the Benefits Office website at http://wdrs.fnal.gov/benefits/annual_enrollment.html. Be sure to attend one of the informational sessions. Blue Cross and CIGNA will be at Wilson Hall in the Aquarium from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28. They will also be here on Nov. 9 and 17. PayFlex the new FSA vendor will be here on Nov. 4, 11 and 17.

Stampers Club Nov. 9
Do you like card stamping? Stampers will meet Tuesday, Nov. 9 in the Aquarium, WH15W. Stop by between 11:30am and 1:30pm. $10/person. Bring scissors and adhesive. Supplies provided for 3 cards. For more information call Jeanne in the Recreation Dept. at x2548.

Lunch and Learn about Qigong, Mindfulness & Tai Chi Easy for Stress Reduction Nov. 10
Learn about free weekly wellness classes offered at Fermilab. Lunch and learn will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10 in Curia II from 12:00 - 1:00pm. Classes feature moving meditation practices for stress reduction, vitality, and health enhancement. Learn how gentle movement, breath awareness and relaxation can reduce stress. Free CERN LHC book
Direct from CERN, we have several hundred complimentary copies of "The CERN Large Hadron Collider: Accelerator and Experiments." The Library is distributing these books to anyone wanting a copy. This is a two-volume compilation technically describing the Large Hadron Collider and experiments at the time of the start-up in September 2008. Rolf-Dieter Heuer, CERN Director-General, expects “The seven articles collected in this book will serve as central references for the stream of scientific publication that we expect to emerge from experiments with the LHC over the next 10-20 years. Muscle Toning begins Nov. 9
Get a head start in getting fit and have fun doing it. The next session of Bod Squad Muscle Toning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Nov. 9 - Dec. 21 (no class 11/25). Class is held in the Exercise Room at the Recreation Facility. Cost is $59/person. Gain strength, lean body mass and increase muscle definition with these strength training classes. Free noontime concert: solo piano by Jacqueline Schwab, Nov. 11, Ramsey Auditorium
Noted pianist Jacqueline Schwab will give a free concert from 12 - 1 p.m., Thursday, November 11, at Ramsey Auditorium in Wilson Hall. Jacqueline is best known for her work on Ken Burns' PBS Documentaries and her concert will feature 19th century and 20th century American traditional music in her own unique improvisational style. A gift to the lab community from the lab’s dance groups and women’s organization, this concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact folkdance@fnal.gov or 630-584-0825.

Special English Country Dance with Jacqueline Schwab, Nov. 10 in St. Charles
Fermilab English Country Dancing will hold a special dance with noted pianist Jacqueline Schwab of the Bare Necessities music ensemble at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Baker Community Center, 101 South 2nd Street, St. Charles. Nov. 22 deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program

Pedestrian Safety Awareness for Families
"Safe Journey" is an interactive pedestrian safety program designed for families. Follow John as he walks from home to a bus stop to go to a soccer field accross town, he returns home after nightfall. Take a walk with John and help him decide how to handle some tricky safety situations. BULLYING: It's everyone's problem Nov. 18
Thursday, Nov. 18, Noon-1:00 p.m., One West, Speaker: Michael Cortina MS., LCPC. A recent study indicates that half of 43,000 students surveyed admitted to bullying in the past year. Suicide, one result of bullying, has been in recent news and is on the rise. This seminar will address recent statistics, the effects on the target individual, and offer tips on how to deal effectively with bullying. It will focus primarily on bullying in children and young adults and will address bullying in the work place. Michael Cortina is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle Program through Dec. 31
ES&H is rolling out its 2nd annual "Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle" program which kicks off Oct. 1. The event will run from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31. The goal is to exercise three days per week for 30 minutes. Yoga Begins Nov. 2
The next session of Yoga will be held on Tuesdays, Nov. 2 - Dec. 21 from noon - 1pm in the Auditorium. Fee is $85/person. This class is suitable for all ages and levels of experience. Learn a variety of physical and resting poses along with various breathing and relaxation techniques. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga or exercise mat. Scrappers Meet Nov. 2
Do you like scrapbooking? Scrappers will meet Tuesday, Nov. 2 in the Aquarium, WH15W. Stop by between 11:30am and 1:30pm. $10/person. The first 2-page layout will be Halloween or Autumn. The second 2-page layout will be "____ things I love about _______". There will be no specific picture sizes - we'll mat/embellish that day. Needles and threads introductory meeting schedule
The Needles and Threads Cancer Awareness Project Schedule: two additional meetings have been scheduled. Monday, October 25, Noon-1:00 p.m., Conference Room One North, WH1N, and Monday, November 1, 5:00-6:00 p.m., Conference Room One North, WH1N. These meetings will provide an overview of the project. Argentine Tango through Nov. 3
Our new series of four tango classes starts Wednesday, October 13, with instructors Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita. Toastmasters - Nov. 4
Bring your lunch and join us for 45 minutes in the Wilson Hall 7th Floor Racetrack Thursday, Nov. 4 starting at 12:05. In Toastmaster, you will learn self-growth, how to plan and relax, how to present an idea as to whether you have time to prepare or just 10 seconds. Martial Arts Classes begins Nov. 1
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. Come and join in, but come prepared to work. There is no magic pill for this. It requires both mental and physical conditioning. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on Nov. 1. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office, the cost is $55.00. I will provide a uniform for students new to martial arts.
