Users Office Closed, Friday, July 30 and Monday, Aug. 2
The Fermilab Users Office will be closed on Friday, July 30, and Monday, August 2, due to circumstances out of our control. Bristol Renaissance Faire discount
Fermilab employees may purchase adult tickets for $12 each (regularly $18.95) and children's tickets for $7.50 (regularly $9.50). The Bristol Renaissance Fair is open Saturdays, Sundays & Labor Day through September 6. Aug. 20 deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program
The deadline for applying for the tuition remission program at The University of Chicago for the Fall 2010 quarter is Aug. 20. For more information and enrollment forms, contact Nicole Gee at x3697 or visit the website.

Applications for URA Visiting Scholars Awards due Aug. 20
Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) has announced a deadline of August 20 for the submission of applications for the fall 2010 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. For details on the URA Visiting Scholars at Fermilab Program, including eligibility, application procedure, award administration and names of award recipients, visit the URA Visiting Scholars website.

Martial arts classes begins Aug. 9
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on August 9. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6 p.m. at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to eight students.

Regal Movie Theater discount tickets available
The Recreation Department now has Regal Movie Theater Discount Tickets available. Regal Theaters recently purchased the AMC Cantera 30 in Warrenville. Other Regal locations include Bolingbrook Stadium 12, Lake Zurich 12 and Crystal Lake Showplace Stadium 16. We have $8 unrestricted tickets and $7 restricted use tickets available. IMAX and 3D are subject to a surcharge at the theater.

NIM and Physics Reports now completely online at Fermilab
Fermilab now has complete site-wide online access to the full-text of these two important HEP journals: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/01689002 and Physics Reports http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/03701573. Grounding and Shielding of Electronic Systems course - Aug. 12 and 13
Learning how to solve electromagnetic interference and signal integrity problems on the job can be frustrating for the engineer and very expensive for the lab. While most of the electromagnetic and circuit principles involved are simple, the complexity of many systems masks the logic and simplicity of possible solutions. This course treats signals as currents; explains fundamental grounding, shielding, and mcuh more. NALWO - FERMI NATIONAL ACCELERATOR LABORATORY WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION invites you to a 12:00 p.m. piano concert featuring: Sandor Feher, Thursday, August 12, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Ramsey Auditorium - Sandor Feher returns, once again, to envelope us with his pure energy at the keyboard in Fermilab’s Ramsey Auditorium. Sandor’s summer break from his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, is our opportunity to hear the splendor of Frederic Chopin. Sandor’s program includes a tribute to Frederic Chopin, as this is Chopin’s bicentennial year, marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Polish composer. Claudia Schmidt - Singer/Songwriter - Fermilab Arts Series - Aug. 14
An incredibly versatile singer/songwriter, Claudia Schmidt is equally at home whether singing folk music, jazz standards, or music for the theater. For almost 40 years Claudia Schmidt has been exploring the nuances of acoustic music with her voice, 12 string guitar and mountain dulcimer with an exciting collection of original, traditional, and contemporary writing. ...She has been featured on A Prairie Home Companion, Mountain Stage, a television documentary on KTCA-TV in St. Paul called "I Sing Because I can't Fly" and won a Jeff Award for her role in the Goodman's "A Good Person Szechuan."

Our new series of four tango classes starts Wednesday, July 7 with instructors Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita. Class dates: July 7, 14, 21 and 28. JoAnn Larson Wins iPod in Walking Program Drawing
Congratulations to JoAnn Larson! JoAnn is last week's drawing winner for an iPod Shuffle in the 10,000 Steps a Day Walking Program hosted by the Recreation Department and CIGNA. We had an 8-week grand total of 107 participants that walked a total of 16,531,728 steps, burned 895,822 calories and walked a combined total of 7,761 miles. Keep walking! Take 5 Challenge Quiz
The new Take 5 Challenge #3 quiz is available on-line on the Take 5 Web page. June was NSC Safety Month and five NSC safety flyers were mailed out to each mail stop.
