Submit an announcement

Submit timecard on new system by Friday, June 25
This week, every Fermilab employee should begin using the new Fermilab Time and Labor electronic reporting system to create and submit timecards. To help with this transition, please submit your weekly timecard through the new FTL system by Friday, June 25. You can access the new timecard, training materials and contact information for local support teams at http://www.fnal.gov/pub/ftl/launch.html. You can also contact the Service Desk for assistance by calling x2345 or by opening a Service Desk ticket at https://ar-mt1.fnal.gov/arsys/shared/login.jsp?/arsys/.

Session 3 Preschool & Youth Swim Lesson Registration due July 2
Registration for Session 3 of Preschool and Youth Swim Lessons is due July 2. This session will run Monday through Thursday the weeks of July 12 and July 19. Fridays are reserved for makeup days if needed. Preschool Lessons are for ages 4-5. Youth Lessons are for ages 6-12, $60/child. Register in the Recreation Office, Wilson Hall, 15 West. Requests for On Site Housing Now Accepted for Fall 2010 & Spring 2011
The Fermilab Housing Office is now taking requests for reservations for houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms for the remainder of 2010 and the Spring of 2011. Please submit your request by Monday, July 19, 2010. Requests for multiple housing units are best handled by direct email to housing@fnal.gov send requests to the Housing Office at (630)840-3777 or email at the above. Individual housing requests can be made by using our Online Housing Request form at http://bss.fnal.gov/accommodations/housing_request.html.

Day Camp Payments Due
June Sessions were due May 24. July Sessions are due Monday June 21. August Sessions are due July 26. If you have not paid the June and July sessions please bring payment to WH15W as soon as possible.

Time to complete accomplishment reports
To all supervisors: Do you need help preparing for performance reviews? Get a quick 2-hour overview of the performance review process, discussion and form. Have your questions answered by Compensation and Employee Relations. This briefing is a review for supervisors who have completed the FMP Performance Review course and for supervisors who are new to the process but have not yet completed the course. Time to complete accomplishment reports
It is that time of year to reflect on our past year’s performance. Please note the following forms must be completed in July: • 2009-2010 accomplishment report (completed by employee) • 2009-2010 performance review form (completed by manager). You may view forms, instructions, and resources on the website at http://wdrs.fnal.gov/elr/perform_rev.html. If you have questions, please contact the Employee Relations department.

Web of Science citation database online trial
Fermilab has a site-wide online trial of the Web of Science citation database through the end of June at http://tinyurl.com/34dwzjr. Web of Science has tools for bibliometric analysis including cited reference searching and graphical citation maps. If you're interested, please try this online product, and send comments to the Fermilab Library at library@fnal.gov. We rely on usage statistics, comments, and price to determine which online resources remain available at Fermilab.

Adult water aerobics - Mondays
Adult water aerobics class will be held on Mondays beginning June 7 and will run through August 2 at the Village Pool from 11:15 a.m. - Noon. The fee is $65/person. Contact Jeanne Koester in the Recreation Department at x2548 for more information.

Argentine Tango, Wednesday, June 16 to 30
Our new series of four tango classes starts Wednesday, June 16 with instructors Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita. Class dates: June 16, 23, and 30. Level 1: Fundamentals: 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Practice - 6:30 p.m.) Level 2: Intermediate/Adv.: 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.(Practice - 10:00 p.m.) Pricing for class levels: Regular/Student Attending single level 1 OR 2 (3 class set): $45/$40; Attending both Levels 1 and 2 (class set): $75/$70; Individual classes: $18/$15. Walk to Health class begins June 7
Are you interested in kicking up your physical activity level one notch higher, but do not know where to start? Then come join us in Walk to Health! This eight week class will help begin to show the most athletically-challenged individuals a path to health. The only equipment you need is comfortable clothes and shoes for walking. Butts & Guts class begins June 7
Tired of doing the same basic crunches and sit-ups? This strength training workout focuses on increasing flexibility and strengthening the abdominal area. Participants learn a variety of exercises designed to increase core strength that benefit activities of daily living. This class is suitable for any level of fitness! Lecture Series: Intermediate/Advanced Topics in C++ Programming
There are two remaining lectures in the 2010 Lecture Series on C++ Programming. “Exploiting Callability in C++: What Can We Do with a Function Object?” will be held Monday, June 21. “A Survey of Concurrent Programming Using Next-Generation C++ Threads” will be held Wednesday, June 23. Both will be in Wilson Hall Curia II from 1:00PM to approximately 3:30PM. There is no cost to attend. 10,000 Steps-a-Day Walking Program
Walk Your Way to Fitness. Register for our 10,000 Steps Per Day Walking Program. SciTech summer camps start June 14
From June 14 to July 30, SciTech Hands-on Museum in downtown Aurora will offer 24 one-week camps for children, including the popular camps "Totally ballistic!" and "Kitchen Chemistry" as well as the new "Wild Weather Wonders" camp. International Folk Dancing resumes in Auditorium June 10
International Folk Dancing will not meet Thursday, June 3, and then will move to the stage of Ramsey Auditorium for the summer. Blood drive June 21 and 22
Fermilab will host a Heartland Blood Centers blood drive June 21, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and June 22, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Hall Ground Floor NE Training Room. 10,000 Steps-a-Day winner announced
Jane Sylvester won last week's drawing for participating in Fermilab's 10,000 Steps-a-Day walking program. Jane won a Hydracoach Bottle that automatically calculates recommended daily hydration goals and displays the total amount of fluid consumed. To date we have 83 participants that have walked 6,176,496 steps, burned 337,271 calories and walked a total of 2,920 miles. Deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program - June 25

Kyuki-Do Martial Arts Classes began June 21
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on June 21. You will learn how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to eight students.

Fermilab Arts Series Presents Corky Siegel and Chamber Blues June 26
Is it blues, is it classical? Walking the line between Beethoven and B.B. King and armed with the creative genius and instrumental prowess that have defined his career for nearly four decades, blues harmonica player, and part of the Siegel/Schwall Band, Corky has pioneered an original, genre-busting Chamber blues - a fresh, innovative sound capturing the sparkling qualities of classical music merged with the emotional melodic style of blues, all within an intimate chamber setting. Under Corky's lead, The West End String Quartet and percussionist Frank Donaldson complete the Chamber Blues Band.
