Drug Sniffing Dogs at Users Center June 18
The Drug Sniffing Dogs (unofficially known as the CDF band) will be practicing, live, at the Fermilab User's Center, Friday, June 18, at 7 p.m.

Deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program - June 25

Adult water aerobics - Mondays

Blood drive June 21 and 22
Fermilab will host a Heartland Blood Centers blood drive June 21, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and June 22, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Hall Ground Floor NE Training Room. Walk to Health class begins June 7
Are you interested in kicking up your physical activity level one notch higher, but do not know where to start? Then come join us in Walk to Health! This eight week class will help begin to show the most athletically-challenged individuals a path to health. The only equipment you need is comfortable clothes and shoes for walking. Butts & Guts class begins June 7
Tired of doing the same basic crunches and sit-ups? This strength training workout focuses on increasing flexibility and strengthening the abdominal area. Participants learn a variety of exercises designed to increase core strength that benefit activities of daily living. This class is suitable for any level of fitness! 10,000 Steps-a-Day iPod Shuffle Winner
Congratulations to Kathy Flores, for actively participating in our 10,000 Steps-a-Day Walking Program. Kathy won an iPod Shuffle in last weeks drawing. At this time we have 49 participants that have walked 1,631,313 steps, burned 93,497 calories, and walked a total of 776 miles. It's not too late to sign up. Next drawing is June 11. Barn Dance June 13
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn, featuring French Canadian music by JJ & Paul and calling by Meg Dedolph. Everyone is welcome. Panel Discussion on Images in Astrophysics, June 13
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will host a panel discussion titled "Beyond Beauty - The Nature and Meaning of Images in Astrophysics" on Sunday, June 13, at 7 p.m. in the SAIC Ballroom at 112 South Michigan Ave, Chicago. Fermilab's Family Outdoor Fair June 13
The Outdoor Family Fair will be held at the Lederman Science Center, Sunday, June 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. There will be many activities for children from 1st to 8th grades. In addition, there will be a raptor exhibit and a visit from some 19th century visitors to our prairie wagon.

SciTech summer camps start June 14
From June 14 to July 30, SciTech Hands-on Museum in downtown Aurora will offer 24 one-week camps for children, including the popular camps "Totally ballistic!" and "Kitchen Chemistry" as well as the new "Wild Weather Wonders" camp. Fermilab prairie quadrat study
You can be a citizen scientist! Help track prairie restoration at Fermilab! Learn to identify prairie plants and map a prairie quadrat. You will spend about two hours collecting information and then entering the data into the website scientists use to monitor the prairie’s condition. The information will help track the progress of the restoration of this prairie. Fermilab has a goal to restore the prairie to the condition it was in when the pioneers first came to the area. This is the fourth year of this project that will continue for many years. Volunteers will be able to explore areas of the prair. http://ed.fnal.gov/data/life_sci/citizen/

Lecture Series: Intermediate/Advanced Topics in C++
A series of six lectures will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Monday, June 7 in Wilson Hall Curia II from 1:00PM to approximately 3:30PM. Each talk is designed as a professional development experience emphasizing effective computer programming in modern standard C++ (“C++03”) or in next-generation C++ (“C++0X”). Although the format is lecture-based, there will be considerable flexibility for interaction regarding any points of special interest to attendees. Diversity Office volunteer opportunity May 25-June 8
The Fermilab Diversity Office has a volunteer opportunity. Items are needed for a medical outreach trip to the Amazon River Basin. Needed items include: Used sunglasses for men, women and children; pacifiers; toothbrushes; fishing line (15-20 lb. test) and hooks; individually wrapped candy, such as lollipops, Tootsie rolls, Sweet Tarts, etc.; Ibuprofen (such as Advil) and Tylenol (400 mg and 800 mg); multivitamins; antacids (such as Tums); and bandages and antibiotic ointments (such as Bandaids and Neosporin). Please bring any of the above items you'd like to donate to Elaine Phillips on the 8th floor, west side of Wilson Hall.

Earned Value Management (EVMS) - June 8 and 9
Learn how the essential elements of the EVMS guidelines will be implemented on major projects. This course will provide the student with opportunities to work problems that reinforce the basic EVMS concepts. This 2-day course explains the Earned Value Management (EVMS) requirements as applied to the Department of Energy projects. The EVMS requirements of DOE Order 413.3 represent a disciplined project management approach for establishing an integrated baseline plan against which project schedule and cost performance is measured during the execution phase.
