Fermilab will celebrate National Employee Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 20, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Walk, run or bike your way to fitness. Start at Ring Road A1. Stop at mile marker tables for water, snacks and fun activities. The event is sponsored by the Recreation Department and the Wellness Committee.

Fermilab Service Desk reaches peak season
May is peak season for creating new computer accounts due to the influx of students, visitors and researchers on-site and requests from remote users around the world. The Fermilab Service Desk is processing many account requests per day and is working additional hours to reduce the wait. The Service Desk personnel appreciate your patience during this time. Coed softball season begins May 13
Men and women from any level of play are welcome to participate. If you don't have a team, we'll find you one. Games are Wednesday or Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Fermilab softball field. Fermilab International Folk Dancing is pleased to present John Parrish, who will offer a workshop on French, Greek, and other dances from his eclectic knowledge at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14, at Kuhn Village Barn at Fermilab. John is one of the Chicago area's foremost resources on many kinds of ethnic dance. He will teach dances for all levels and newcomers are welcome. Suggested donation is $8 for adults/$4 for students. English country dancing, May 17
English Country Dancing will be held Sunday, May 17, at Kuhn Village Barn. Asthma & Allergy Awareness Lunch & Learn - May 19

Nanotechnology Lecture: Crafting of Self-Assembling Materials for Medicine & Energy - Fermilab Arts Series
Function in the biological world emerges from self-assembly of macromolecules and small molecules across scales. This lecture will describe the design of molecules for self-assembly into nanostructures that can function as bioactive materials to signal cells in regeneration, or hybrid materials to optimize charge and energy transfer. The implications for this type of research are endless, and the research done at the Stupp Laboratory has already noted advances in regenerative improvement from spinal cord injuries, from damage to the heart, and in rebuilding blood vessel growth. Accelerated C++ Short Course: registration open - June 8
On June 8, Fermilab will offer the first session of Accelerated C++: A Short Course in Practical Programming by Example. The Short Course is an extended professional development experience that emphasizes computer programming in modern standard C++. No tuition is charged; the required textbooks will be available for check-out from the Fermilab Library. Participants receive TRAIN credit upon successful completion of the eight-session course. Walter Brown, who participates on Fermilab's behalf in the international C++ standardization effort, is the course instructor. He is a member of the Co.
