Second Bulletin

This is the second bulletin for the Workshop on

"Heavy Quarks at Fixed Target"

that will be held on October 10, 11, and 12 of 1998 at Fermilab. The Workshop is the fourth in a series that was initiated in Frascati (Italy) in 1993. Following editions were held in Charlottesville (USA) 1994 and St.Goar (Germany) in 1996. The latest information on this year's workshop can be found on our WEB site at

http://www.fnal.gov/projects/hq98/

There will be a third bulletin 2 to 3 weeks before the workshop.

Scientific Program:

By heavy quarks we mean the strange, charm, and bottom quarks. The emphasis of the Workshop is on the areas of heavy quark physics where Fixed Target experiments have made major contributions. However, for those areas, we hope to have rather comprehensive discussions which include the contributions of collider experiments as well. We will be emphasizing recent results and future experimental programs. We also plan to have theoretical and experimental overviews of each area.

The Workshop will be arranged by topics:

An up-to-date schedule of talks

Schedule and program:

An up-to-date schedule of talks

We are also planning a poster session. If you are interested, please send an abstract of the proposed poster to HQ98@fnal.gov by September 15. We will let you know whether the poster is accepted as soon as we can after we receive the abstract.

Accommodations and Social Program:

The Workshop will be held at Fermilab in Batavia Illinois. We have reserved a block of rooms at the Radisson Hotel in Lisle/Naperville (about 8 miles from Fermilab) at a special rate of $89/night plus tax for a single room. You can make a reservation by dialing their toll free number: 1-800-333-3333. Their main number is 630-505-1000 and their FAX number is 630-505-9965. Please state that you are attending HQ98 at Fermilab. To receive the special rate you must reserve your room by September 18. If for some reason, you have to make other arrangements and need assistance, please send EMAIL to HQ98@fnal.gov.

We plan to take advantage of the proximity to Chicago by having the conference banquet and at least one optional event in the city.

Computer connections will be readily available.

Travel Connections and Transportation:

Participants will generally arrive at O'Hare International Airport or Midway Airport. Rental cars are available by reservation from all major companies at O'Hare and Midway. A limousine service, which also requires reservations, runs at all times of the day and night between the airports and the Fermilab area.

Registration and Costs of the Workshop:

We will charge a registration fee for the Workshop to all participants. It will cover registration, the banquet at the Shedd Aquarium, conference lunches on Saturday and Sunday, and the Workshop proceedings. The charges are:

Registration should be done electronically from the workshop web page. A list of registrations received, which will be updated every few days, will be available on the web page.
