Accelerator Update for December 19, 2005 - December 21, 2005

Monday December 19

The day shift began with Operations monitoring store 4555, the Recycler Ring (RR) stash at 3.4 E10, the Antiproton Source (Pbar) stack at 171.5 E10, and with MiniBooNE and Meson Center taking beam.

At 8:39 AM the Main Injector (MI) was racked out for access to repair the Recycler cooling.

The Main Injector access was completed at 10:46 AM.

At 11:30 AM stacking has resumed, and beam returns to MiniBoone.

NuMI Horn Chiller problems are fixed, beam returns to NuMI at 3:06 PM.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 3:09 PM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 3:49 PM, beam returns to MCenter.

At 5:52 PM, the NuMI horn began experiencing ground fault problems with the stripline.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 7:21 PM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 8:12 PM, beam returns to MCenter.

Operations terminated store 4555 at 10:03 PM.

Shot setup begins at 10:33 PM.

The NuMI horn stripline problems were resolved by 11:02 PM.

Tuesday December 20

The midnight shift began with the Tevatron (Tev) in shot setup, the Recycler Ring (RR) stash at 163.9 E10, the Pbar stack at 39.3 E10, and with MiniBooNE and NuMI taking beam.

Klystron RF Station #6 (KRF6) tripped off frequently throughout the night, experts will look at it today.

Operations established store 4556 at 1:53 AM with an initial luminosity of 91.4 E30.

Pbar resumed stacking at 1:54 AM, beam returns to MIPP.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 3:09 AM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 4:07 PM, beam returns to MIPP.

Switchyard and Meson were disabled at 7:40 AM, to add glycol to the MS2 LCW water system and some miscellaneous jobs.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 8:35 AM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 9:16 AM.

At 10:46 AM, Linac Klystron RF Station #6 (KRF6) was turned off to replace the ignitron, this turns off all Proton beam.

KRF6 is back on line at 12:04 PM

Pbar beam returns at 12:47 PM.

NuMI was turned off at 4:24 PM when more horn chiller problems were discovered. They will be off tonight and look for a solution in the morning.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 4:28 PM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 5:09 PM.

Meson startup was delayed by problems with power supply S:QP3, they resumed taking beam at 6:33 PM.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 10:55 PM to stash antiprotons.

Operations terminated store 4556 at 11:33 PM.

Pbar returns to stacking at 11:48 PM, beam returns to MIPP.

At 11:57 PM, D0 and CDF began accesses into their collision halls.

Wednesday December 21

The midnight shift began with D0 and CDF in access, the Recycler Ring (RR) stash at 222.4 E10, the Pbar stack at 25.1 E10, and with MiniBooNE, NuMI, and MCenter taking beam.

CDF and D0 accesses were completed by 1:47 AM.

Shot setup begins at 3:15 AM.

Operations established store 4558 at 6:10 AM with an initial luminosity of 128.00 E30.

Operations put the Recycler into shot setup at 5:43 AM to stash antiprotons.

Pbar returns to stacking at 6:59 AM, beam to MIPP.

The Plan for Wednesday

Keep the store, stack, stash, run beam to MiniBoone, and MCenter. Bring NuMI back on line.
