The Lake Law Pines

This area of clumped pine trees and scrub is to be found on the northwest side of Lake Law, just west of the Red Barn. In general this area and the other similar pine clusters on site are not particularly productive. However, in winter they do provide good roosting areas for owls. In the past the Lake Law pines were probably the most reliable place on site to find Long-eared Owls. This is no longer the case due to pressure from over-zealous birders and photographers. Other interesting wintering species such as Cooper's Hawks, Red-breasted Nuthatches, both kinglets and Yellow-rumped Warblers are also possible.
