Fermilab fire fighters ask you to "Fill the Boot" on Friday, October 12 to help families of NYC firefighters

The Fermilab Fire Department is joining fire departments across our nation to help the families of New York City firefighters who suffered losses in the tragic events of September 11. The Fermilab Fire Department will conduct its own "Fill the Boot" collection on Friday, October 12, 2001. Donations will be accepted in currency or coin, and checks can be written to "The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund." One hundred percent of the donations will go directly to the fund, benefiting the families of the fallen firefighters and EMS personnel in New York City.

Fermilab Fire Department members will be stationed at the Batavia Road Gate, the Pine Street Gate, and the Wilson Road Gate from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and at the intersections of A-1 Road & D Road, and A-2 Road & Pine Street, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accept donations. Fire Department personnel will also be in Wilson Hall during lunchtime.

The losses in New York City have touched the hearts in our community at the Fermilab Fire Department, and in fire departments across the nation. The lives lost represented the young and old, female and male, mothers and fathers, and perhaps grandmothers and grandfathers. In addition to their deep personal losses, these families will also face financial difficulties. Our "Fill the Boot" effort is one way we can help them directly.

Thanks!

The Fermilab Fire Department
