Screening of "The Atom Smashers,"a documentary on Fermilab - July 16
The Illinois Science Council is joining with 137 Films to screen the documentary film "The Atom Smashers" on Monday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Landmark Century Cinema in Chicago. The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring physicists from Fermi and Argonne National Laboratories (right here in Chicago's backyard) who have been, and continue to be, personally involved in the experiments conducted for the Higgs particle. Budker Seminar
The Budker Seminar will be held at the User's Center on Monday, July 16. Free Pizza and beverages will be served starting at 5:00 pm. Everyone one is welcome to attend. The speaker this month is Timofey Zolkin from the University of Chicago; talk title: “Beam Response for Booster BPMs.”

English country dancing this Sunday, July 15, at Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will meet this Sunday, July 15, at Kuhn Village Barn. The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 until 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome and all dances are taught and walked through. 10,000 Steps A Day Participation Winner
Congratulations to Karen Seifrid. Karen is an active participant in the Just Walk 10,000 Steps-A-Day program and is the winner of last week's drawing for an iPod Shuffle. Currently there are 89 participants that have walked a total of 12,814,839 steps, burned 653,799 calories and walked a total of 5,974 miles. NALWO - Tour and Luncheon on July 19
Come with us to tour the Fabyan Japanese Garden and Villa in Geneva with docent Rose Moore. The tour starts 11 a.m. followed by the optional lunch at 12:30 p.m. at Cotto a Legna in Geneva. Tour: Discover the wonders of the Fabyan Japenese garden and villa, home of Colonel George and Nelle Fabyan. They hired Frank Lloyd Wright to enlarge and re-model the existing farmhouse. Deadline July 16 for fall/spring onsite housing requests
The Fermilab Housing Office is now taking requests for reservations for houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms for the remainder of 2012 and the spring of 2013. Howard Levy & Chris Siebold - August 18
Fresh from a Grammy win from his work with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Chicago-based musician Howard Levy returns to Fermilab's Ramsey Auditorium on Saturday, August 18, joined by guitarist Chris Siebold. Howard is known for his eclectic work as a harmonica player with Bela Fleck, as a soloist, composer, with his Latin-jazz band Chevere, and as a back up musician on a wide range of recordings with artists such as Kenny Loggins, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon and others. Louisiana roots band Red Stick Ramblers - Fermilab Arts Series

Collider New Play Project, July 7, 14 and 21
Beginning July 7, the Fox Valley Repertory will present its 2012 Collider New Play Project, a collaboration among playwrights and Fermilab scientists. Every Saturday (July 7, 14 and 21), at 1 p.m. at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, a different playwright will present a staged reading of a new play that helps us better understand the universe and who we are, while illuminating and celebrating the worlds of art, science and technology.
