About National Lab Day

National Lab Day Brochure

National Lab Day is:

  • An unprecedented effort to bring more authentic, hands-on and discovery-based experiences to students.
  • An important step in creating ongoing involvement and collaborations between professionals and local schools and teachers nationwide.

National Lab Day will mobilize citizens and scientists to build ongoing, long-term collaborations with schools. Scientists and other professionals will donate their time and expertise to schools, and teachers will work to rally the community to support this endeavor. By working together, we can provide children with well-equipped labs and the access to professional scientists, engineers and mathematicians who can inspire them.

When Is National Lab Day?

This year's National Lab Day will include a series of events that will take place for many schools during the first week of May. During that week, teachers and community members will highlight innovative National Lab Day projects with strong student involvement. These projects will transcend disciplinary or school boundaries. We hope that National Lab Day efforts will build the ongoing, long-term collaborations with schools and after-school programs necessary to make high quality, hands-on STEM experiences routinely available to all students.
