PASFRG Minutes 2/18/98 After briefly reviewing the discussions of the last meeting, we continued our discussion of requirements. Some additinos to the requirements list were made, and these can be viewed from the link on the PASFRG home page or directly at: http://www.fnal.gov/projects/runii/pasfrg/req.txt We also talked about organizing the requirements into categories; some initial suggestions are also on the requirements web page. We recognized that we need to consider potentially different requirements for on-line, interactive, and batch. We are urgently in need of volunteers to take on one of the categories of requirements and quantify and expand on the initial rather terse statements. We also discussed how we would educate ourselves about existing products (purely in order to decide on what requirements we will specify, of course, and not to choose a product). We agreed to appoint "conveners" for the various products or strategies. The conveners would make an initial presentation giving an overview of the functionality and limitations of the different products. Members of the group who have particular questions or concerns about particular products should direct those queries to the conveners who will attempt to address them in their initial presentations. If necessary or desirable, we may scheulde later sessions about the more interesting products in a point/counter-point format. Conveners should also try to address issues of usage of standards, modularity, flexibility, portability, etc in their initial presentations. Current assignment of conveners is: PAW limitations: John Marraffino ROOT: Pasha Murat LHC++: John Marraffino and Irwin Gaines Nirvana: Paul Lebrun PC tools: Pushpa Bhat Commercial tools: need a volunteer Shareware Tools: Eileen Berman Watch the agendas on the web page for which products will be discussed when.
