PARTICLE PHYSICS RESEARCH FOCUS:
Since the mid-1990s, we have been working on collider physics focusing on QCD and electroweak studies, top quark physics and searches for the Higgs Boson and new physics. In addition, our group has made significant contributions to the trigger systems and silicon trackers for DZero and CMS. Our theory group has been very active on Higgs boson signatures, quark mixing phenomenology, CP violation between matter and anti-matter, top quark interactions beyond the Standard Model, and the classification of the dark matter properties.

WHAT SETS PARTICLE PHYSICS AT UIC APART?
UIC is only a short drive from Fermilab. Most members of our group live near Fermilab and we therefore have the best of both laboratory and university experiences. With the group stationed full-time at Fermilab, our students and post-docs have always benefited from continuous interaction with the faculty. We are also fortunate to have a strong experimental high energy nuclear group at UIC who are members of CMS at CERN and STAR at Brookhaven's RHIC. Moreover, we work closely with the Fermilab QuarkNet group, building a cosmic ray collaboration with high schools throughout Chicagoland.
