Tree planting dedication in memory of Lisa Rogers
Please join the Department of Energy Fermi Site Office for a tree planting dedication in memory of Lisa Rogers at the Main Ring Savannah on Monday, Nov 5 at 10:30 a.m., all are invited. Lisa served the Fermi Site Office as a Contract Specialist from 2009 to 2011.

Change your clock, change your battery - this weekend
CHANGE YOUR CLOCK - CHANGE YOUR BATTERY The members of the Fermilab Fire Department wish to remind everyone when changing your clocks on Sunday, Nov. 4, to check and/or change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Smoke detectors should also be checked monthly for proper operation. Statistics show that properly working smoke detectors save lives. Should you have any questions, please call the fire station at x3428.

Country House Employee Discount
A discount of 20% will be given on the food portion of any check paid by a Fermilab employee. You must present a current valid Fermilab ID to receive discount. Promotion is available for lunch or dinner every day of the week, even on carry outs. Discount may not be used for alcohol and cannot be combined with any other promotion, discount or offer. Power outage - Nov. 2-5
AD computers and network services outage - Nov. 2. On Friday evening, Nov. 2, AD computers and network services willbe taken down in preparation for the Saturday power outage. These systems won't be back online until noon on Monday, Nov. 5.
Feeder 40 power outage - Nov. 3. On Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. there will be a power outage that affects the Linac,Ccross Galleries, Main Control Room and AD computer room.
Feeder 44 power outage - Nov. 4. On Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. there will be a power outage that affects WH, which will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. - No power or networking in WH office areas, WH5NW or WH8 Fiber Central. FCC, LCC and GCC will be unaffected. LHC ROC will have power but no netowrk. Ask a Scientist will be moved to CDF.
CUB power outage - Nov. 4. On Sunday there will be a cooling outage, affecting WH, LInac Gallery, Cross Gallery, Booster Gallery and Towers, all accelerators and AD computer rooms. There will be temporary cooling for MCR, Mac room, dispatch, telecom and other areas.

Martial Arts Classes
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on November 5. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $60.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to ten students.

Fermilab discount for the play "QED" - a day in the life of Richard Feynman
Tickets are regularly $25 but by following the link below, Fermilab employees can purchase $20 tickets. Nov. 26 deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program
The deadline for applying for the tuition remission program at The University of Chicago for the Winter 2012 quarter is Nov. 26. For more information and enrollment forms, contact Nicole Gee at x3697 or visit the website http://wdrs.fnal.gov/train-dev/uchicago.html.

2013 403(b) plan limitations
403 (b) Elective Salary Deferral Limit The maximum that participants can contribute to their account in the supplemental retirement plan for 2013 calendar year will increase from $17,000 to $17,500. The $17,500 limit becomes effective on January 1, 2013.
Catch-up Elective Deferrals Employees age 50 and older, or who will become age 50 at any time during 2013 may make elective deferred contributions beyond the $17,500 limit in 2013. These employees will be able to contribute an additional $5,500 in 2013. The limit for the catch-up contribution did not increase for 2013. The catch-up will apply only to those employees who are making the maximum contribution of $17,500.

Enrollment for 2013 benefits - Oct. 22 to Nov. 6
All employees should have received their 2013 benefits information packets via interoffice mail. This is an active enrollment, which means that even if you intend to continue with the same plans and coverage that you have this year, you must re-enroll. If you do not re-enroll, your coverage will be suspended on Dec. 31, 2012. Periodic active enrollments are necessary to ensure that beneficiaries and dependents are up-to-date.

Four-session survey of God's Promise through history - begins Oct. 30
At noon on October 30, the Bible Exploration for Lunch League plans to begin discussing God's Promise through history. For 4 Tuesday lunch hours you are invited to share this inspiring account that will take us from the beginning in Genesis, through every book of the Bible, up to our own time. CSADay 2012 Training Opportunities - Nov. 6
The annual Computer Security Awareness Day (CSADay2012) Nov. 6 offers you the opportunity to walk in, enroll and attend your required ITNA computer security classes that day. In addition, there will be informative Speed Session, non-credit classes in the afternoon, as well as a hands-on demo of the new Password Reset service at the Password Doctor booth. SciTech presents Masters of Lightning - Saturday, Nov. 3
The Masters of Lightning will perform their amazing music and lightning show with the "cage of death" at the SciTech Museum in Aurora on Saturday, Nov. 3. The museum opens at 6 p.m., the program starts at 7 p.m., and the museum will stay open until 9 pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.
