International Folk Dancing in Kuhn Barn July 5
International Folk Dancing will be held at Kuhn Village Barn Thursday, July 5, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., and then will continue in its usual summer location of Ramsey Auditorium on July 12 (except for the first Thursday of August back in the Barn). Howard Levy & Chris Siebold - August 18
Fresh from a Grammy win from his work with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Chicago-based musician Howard Levy returns to Fermilab's Ramsey Auditorium on Saturday, August 18, joined by guitarist Chris Siebold. Howard is known for his eclectic work as a harmonica player with Bela Fleck, as a soloist, composer, with his Latin-jazz band Chevere, and as a back up musician on a wide range of recordings with artists such as Kenny Loggins, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon and others. QuarkNet fellows virtually visit CERN - June 27
During their workshop at Fermilab, QuarkNet LHC Fellows will participate in an ATLAS Virtual Visit. The LHC Fellows are a group of teachers who provide students and teachers with authentic activities and investigations in which they use real LHC data. In their workshop, they learn about LHC systems like ATLAS and prepare to facilitate teacher professional development in the use of LHC data. Creation's Birthday - July 5 - at Ramsey - A New Play about Hubble and Einstein
The Astronomy League and Chicago Astronomic Society present CREATION'S BIRTHDAY, by Hasan Padamsee, a new play about Hubble, Einstein and the expanding universe. The performance will be at the Ramsey Auditorium on July 5 at 5 pm. Doors open at 4.50 pm. All Fermilab employees and companions are welcome at NO CHARGE. A short description: How did boxing champ, war-hero, and prodigy astronomer, Edwin Hubble gang up with a moon-shine-peddling janitor and a Jesuit priest to defeat the champion of science, Albert Einstein? The Fermilab Housing Office is now taking requests for reservations for houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms for the remainder of 2012 and the spring of 2013. Collider New Play Project, July 7, 14 and 21
Beginning July 7, the Fox Valley Repertory will present its 2012 Collider New Play Project, a collaboration among playwrights and Fermilab scientists. Every Saturday (July 7, 14 and 21), at 1 p.m. at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, a different playwright will present a staged reading of a new play that helps us better understand the universe and who we are, while illuminating and celebrating the worlds of art, science and technology. Martial Arts Classes June 25
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on June 25. New students are always welcome. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office, the cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in a martial art. My class is limited to ten students.

Project Management Introduction class scheduled in September

After-hours shuttle trial extended through June
The experimental after-hours shuttle service will end its extended trial at the end of June. Every Wednesday and Friday at 5:15 p.m. a taxi leaves from the horseshoe in front of Wilson Hall and stops at SiDet, CDF, DZero and the Users' Center. Help us gather valuable data on prairie plant populations. It's not difficult. With a little practice, you will be able to use our equipment to identify prairie plants, map a prairie plot and enter your data in our website. Pool membership is open to Fermilab employees, retirees, visiting researchers, contractors, employees of the DOE office at Fermilab, and their immediate families living in the same household. Memberships are not transferable and are non-refundable. Single Membership is $100.00. Family Membership is $230.00 (up to 4 family members). Additional Family Members are $40.00.
