The Fermilab Cafeteria will close at 1:00 p.m. on both Monday, June 11, and Tuesday, June 12, in order to prepare for the evenings' special events.

Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
Kennette Benedict, the Executive Director and Publisher of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will be at Fermilab in the Small Dining Room on Thursday, June 7, from 1:30-3pm to meet with Fermilab staff and scientists to discuss issues of interest, including physics, energy, science policy, climate change, nuclear weapons, etc. Please join her for this opportunity to voice your concerns and express your opinions, as well as hear about the Bulletin's latest efforts and projects.

Scottish country dancing cancelled June 12, moves to Auditorium June 19
Scottish country dancing is cancelled Tuesday, June 12. The group will move for the summer to the stage of Ramsey Auditorium, where they will dance weekly beginning Tuesday,June 19, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The group is taught by Doug Jensen. Most dances are walked through and newcomers are always welcome. No need to come with a partner! Barn Dance and picnic June 10
Celebrate the season with a picnic and barn dance! Barn dance and picnic on Sunday, June 10 at the Kuhn Village barn. Come anytime after 5 p.m. We'll provide charcoal for those who want to grill. Just bring your dinner and share a sociable hour before the dance begins (we'll move inside if the weather is bad). Dance at 6:30 p.m. with music by Cats on Holiday with calling by Meg Dedolph. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun, admission is $6, children under 12 are free, 12 to 18 year olds and people over 65 are $3. Video series on 6 different world religions starts June 19
On Tuesday, June 19, the Bible Exploration for Lunch League plans to begin a new video series called "Ultimate Survivor" from Worldview Academy. The series has interviews with people from 6 different religions about what they believe: a Hindu Priest, Buddhist monks, a Muslim, a Pantheist, a Jewish Rabbi, and a Christian preacher. Everyone is welcome to join us at noon each Tuesday in the Quarium in the southwest corner of the 8th floor of Wilson Hall. Don’t take the bait; what to do if you fall victim to identity theft

Dr. David Gross, Nobel Laureate, on Fermilab Lecture Series
At the frontiers of physics, scientists search for the principles that might unify all the forces of nature and strive to understand the origin and history of the universe. In this talk, Gross describes some of the questions asked as well as some of the proposed answers. What it might mean to have a final theory of fundamental physics? Are we capable of discovering it? Dr. Gross received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2004, along with H. David Politzer and Frank Wilczek, "for the discovery of asymptotic freedom in the theory of strong interaction." Tickets - $7. After-hours shuttle trial extended through June
The experimental after-hours shuttle service will end its extended trial at the end of June. Every Wednesday and Friday at 5:15 p.m. a taxi leaves from the horseshoe in front of Wilson Hall and stops at SiDet, CDF, DZero and the Users' Center. Fermilab Prairie Quadrat Study
Help us gather valuable data on prairie plant populations. It's not difficult. With a little practice, you will be able to use our equipment to identify prairie plants, map a prairie plot and enter your data in our website. Garden Club Plots Available
The Fermilab Garden Club has plots available for planting this summer for interested Fermilab employees, retirees, users, and contractors. Each plot is 20' x 40', is located in the village and has access to a water pipe. The yearly membership fee is $10.00 per plot. All of the plots are ideal for perennials, vegetables, fruit, herbs, or flowers. Contact Eileen Berman at berman@fnal.gov.

Pool Memberships Available
Fermi Pool Hours: Tuesday, June 5 – Sunday, Aug. 26. Tuesday-Friday: Noon–7 pm. Saturday-Sunday: 1–6 pm. Pool membership is open to Fermilab employees, retirees, visiting researchers, contractors, employees of the DOE office at Fermilab, and their immediate families living in the same household. Memberships are not transferable and are non-refundable. Single Membership is $100.00. Family Membership is $230.00 (up to 4 family members). Additional Family Members are $40.00. Children age 2 and under free. Memberships sold in the Wellness Office of Wilson Hall, 15 West, Monday-Friday.

The Fermilab Management Practices Seminar (FMP) provides new supervisors and managers with the essential tools for effective leadership and management. It also provides experienced supervisors and managers with the opportunity to update and renew their management skills. Fermilab Users' Meeting - June 12-13
The annual gathering of the Fermilab Users Organization will be held on June 12-13. This meeting is an opportunity for discussion of new physics results from the laboratory's experimental program, future initiatives at the lab, and thoughtful presentations from leaders of the scientific policy community. Tevatron symposium - June 11
A symposium celebrating the Tevatron program's lasting impacts on science, technology and society will take place in Ramsey Auditorium on Monday, June 11. All Fermilab employees and users are invited to attend. The symposium, which begins at 1 p.m., will feature a keynote address by Harvard physicist Lisa Randall and presentations on the history and achievements of the Tevatron accelerator and experiments, the Tevatron's legacy in particle physics, technology, and at the LHC, and the future of Fermilab. Fermilab's Daughters and Sons to Work day will take place on Wednesday, June 20.
