Budker Seminar
Speaker: Denise Ford, Northwestern University, Title: "First Principles Materials Science Investigations of Niobium Superconducting Radio-Frequency Cavities". Superconducting radio-frequency cavities will provide the accelerating gradient for future high-performance linear particle accelerators such as in Project-X and the International Linear Collider. Optimizing cavity performance in the superconducting state requires very high purity materials with low surface roughness, and a processing procedure is currently under development to achieve the necessary material conditions.

Barn Dance May 13
Bring your mother to a dance! The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by White Mule and calling by Allan Sundry. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun! Admission is $6, children under 12 are free, 12 to 18 year olds and people over 65 are $3. Adult Water Aerobics
Adult Water Aerobics will be held on Mondays, June 18 - August 6 at the Fermilab Village Pool from 21:00-12:45pm, $65/person. Scottish country dancing meets Tuesday evenings in Kuhn Village Barn
Silk and Thistle Scottish Country Dancing will be held Kuhn Village Barn every Tuesday from 7:30 to 10 p.m. through June 12 (after that in Ramsey Auditorium for the summer. The group is taught by Doug Jensen. Most dances are walked through and newcomers are always welcome. There is some live music nearly every week. DASTOW - June 20
Fermilab's Daughters and Sons to Work day will take place on Wednesday, June 20. Fermilab's DASTOW program returns with traditional favorite activities including Mr. Freeze's cryogenics show, a trip to see the bison, the FUNdamentals of Physics show and a demonstration of skills and safety at the Fermilab Fire Department. Fermilab Family Outdoor Fair
Bring your family and explore the outside world. Due to the recent Trojan viruses and malware that have affected the Mac OSX environment, we will now deploy all required Mac software updates as they become available. Martial Arts Classes
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on May 14. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5-6pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to ten students.

Zumba Fitness

2012 CTEQ-Fermilab School: Final Week for Applications
This is the final announcement of the 2012 CTEQ-Fermilab School on QCD and Electroweak Phenomenology, to be held in Lima Peru. The primary goal of this year's CTEQ school will be to provide a focused introduction to perturbative quantum chromodynamics and electroweak physics with applications to LHC and Intensity Frontier experiments. The school is ideally suited for advanced graduate students and young postdocs. 2012 standard mileage reimbursement rate
The Internal Revenue Service and the General Services Administration have issued the 2012 standard mileage reimbursement rate for non Government owned vehicles. It is 55.5 cents per mile, effective Apr. 17, 2012
