MANYA: Living History of Marie Curie - Fermilab Arts Series on Saturday
This one-woman drama exposes the struggles and triumphs of Madame Marie Curie (née Maria Sklodowska) — an academically impassioned, vehemently private, fervently Polish scientist, mother, and teacher. From the political oppression of her childhood, to scientific emergence and fame to the tragedy that forced her into single motherhood as well as further world prominence, this is a life that challenges our assumptions about what one person can achieve and the responsibilities of science. Written and performed by Susan Marie Frontczak, $16/$8 for ages 18 and under http://www.fnal.gov/culture.

Sleights of Mind: Neuroscience of Magic - Fermilab Lecture Series
Magic tricks fool us because humans have hardwired processes of attention and awareness that are hackable-a good magician uses your mind's own intrinsic properties against you in a form of mental jujitsu. The insights that magicians have gained over centuries of informal experimentation have led to new discoveries in the cognitive sciences, and they also reveal how our brains work in everyday situations. Stephen and Susana are laboratory directors at the Barrow Neurological Institute where they study various aspects of visual, sensory and cognitive neuroscience. $7 - http://www.fnal.gov/culture.

James Sewell Ballet - Fermilab Arts & Lecture Series
Hailed by Anna Kisselgoff of The New York Times as “a polished gem of a chamber dance troupe,” this exquisite chamber-sized contemporary ballet company brings a dynamic choreographic vision as well as a sense of humor to the stage. Truly the "un-stuffiest" ballet you'll ever see! With music that ranges from Chopin and Stravinsky to Lady GaGa and the Bad Plus, JAMES SEWELL BALLET creates works that engages audiences of all ages. The founders envisioned a close-knit company of dance artists willing to both challenge their physical limits and expand their notions about ballet.
