Fermilab Arts Series Presents Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul - Mar. 10
"..the future of the Celtic fiddle." - The Washington Post "a sensation." - Billboard Magazine - Just in time for Saint Paddy's, it's one of the most accomplished Celtic fiddle players of our time, Eileen Ivers with her Band Immigrant Soul. Eileen was the original music star of Riverdance, and has gone on to perform with the London Symphony and Boston Pops, found Cherish the Ladies, perform on numerous film as well as wtih musicians such as The Chieftains, Sting, and Patti Smith. Gallery Series Present Arianna String Quartet - Mar. 4
"Quartet playing doesn't get much better than this" raves the Chicago Tribune about the award winning Arianna String Quartet. Don't miss an afternoon of music by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, along with an "almost" world premiere of a new work commissioned for the quartet by composer David Stock. The work actually premieres two nights prior. This group has performed around the world, and won numerous international competitions. They are artists in residence at the University of Missouri, Saint Louis. The 2:30 concert, in the Second Floor Art Gallery,incl udes a post-concert artist reception.

Barn Dance Feb. 19
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by Just Us Chickens and calling by Dan Saathoff. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun! Admission is $6, children under 12 are free, 12 to 18 year olds and people over 65 are $3. Lunchtime Concert Feb. 21
Waubonsie Valley High School's Mosaic Ensemble will perform during lunchtime in Ramsey Auditorium, next Tuesday, Feb. 21. The 30 minute concert will be held from 12:15 to 12:45 pm.

School's day out Feb. 20
School's out Day Camp on Feb. 20, childcare for school age children (7-12 years) will be offered at Kuhn Barn from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., cost is $25.00 per camper. Enrollment will be accepted until noon on Friday, Feb. 17. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The program will be cancelled if less than 7 register. Campers will need to bring a lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Beverage at lunch, morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Fermilab Natural Areas Annual meeting Feb. 16
Fermilab Natural Areas, a not-for-profit group with the mission of conserving and restoring the natural areas on the Fermilab site, will hold its annual general membership meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm in Wilson Hall One West Conference Room on the Fermilab campus. All are welcome to hear about the progress that FNA has made over the past year. SciTech Preschool Open House - Feb. 18 & 25
The SciTech Museum’s Discovery Preschool in downtown Aurora invites parents and kids to see and experience one of the only S.T.E.M. based curriculum preschools in the country. On Site Housing Requests for Summer of 2012 now accepted
Requests for reservations of on-site houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms for the SUMMER of 2012 can now be submitted to the Fermilab Housing Office. Please submit your request by Monday, Mar. 5. Martial arts classes
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on Feb. 20. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, bow staff, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 p.m. at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before.

URA Visiting Scholars Program deadline - Feb. 29
Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) has announced a deadline of Feb. 29 for the submission of applications for the Spring 2012 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. Successful applicants will be notified at the end of Mar. 2012. "5 Treasures" Qigong for Stress Relief begins Jan. 23
"Five Treasures" is a short, easy to learn, set of Qigong exercises. Specific attention on coordination of breath, posture and intention. This is a more in-depth approach compared to the drop-in classes on Wednesday and Friday.
