Standard Model benchmarks workshop today and Saturday
Tevatron and LHC experimentalists and theorists will hold a workshop on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, to discuss Standard Model benchmarks as measured by experiments at the LHC and Tevatron. Registration is required. Participants will meet from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in One West on Friday and in the CDF Conference Room in Building 327 on Saturday. VISA Office closed
The Visa Office will be closed from Tuesday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving. In case of emergencies or if you need immediate assistance, contact Borys Jurkiw at x4363 or borys@fnal.gov. We will re-open as usual on Monday, Nov. 29.

Fermilab Today holiday schedule
Fermilab Today will not publish on Nov. 25 and 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The last issue of Fermilab Today in 2010 will appear on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Fermilab Today will resume publication on Monday, Jan. 3.

TIAA CREF Representatives at Fermilab November 22
TIAA-CREF representatives will be at Fermilab on Monday, November 22. These sessions are designed to assist employees considering participation in the VSO. Representatives will meet with employees individually to answer questions and provide information. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-732-8353.

Users Office Holiday Hours
The Users office will be closed on November 25th and 26th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Users office will be closed on December 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st for the Christmas Holiday. If you need an ID renewal during that time, please make it a point to come to our office before the days listed above. Normal Users Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm. If you need a rental car from Pilot’s Leasing, and did not reserve one in advance, please visit the communications office located on the ground floor of the Wilson Hall, next to the Key and ID Office.

Barn Dance November 21
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by White Mule and calling by Lynn Garren & Dave Harding. Everyone is welcome. Admission is $6. Children under 12 are free. 12 to 18 year olds and people over 65 are $3. More info and directions

Reminder Timecards due early for Week of Nov 15 – 21
Employees submit their timecard by 10 a.m. Friday Nov. 19. Supervisors have all timecards approved by noon Friday Nov. 19. Pay day for non exempt employees for this week will be Wed. Nov. 24 due to the Thanksgiving days off Thursday and Friday.

School's Day Out
School's Out Day Camp On Nov. 22 and 23, childcare for school age children (7-12 years) will be offered at Kuhn Barn from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Cost is $25.00 per camper. Enrollment will be accepted until noon on Thurs., Nov. 18. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The program will be cancelled if less than 7 register. Campers will need to bring a lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Beverage at lunch, morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Help Fermilab track greenhouse gas emissions - take a survey
Fermilab wants to learn more about employees' commuting practices. By taking a commuting and travel survey, you can help the ES&H Section better estimate the greenhouse gas emissions from employees commuting to work or traveling on business. Turkey date for Thanksgiving dinner
International Services will play matchmaker again this Thanksgiving between volunteers at Fermilab who are hosting Thanksgiving dinners and anyone at Fermilab who does not already have Thanksgiving plans. Free CERN LHC book
Direct from CERN, we have several hundred complimentary copies of "The CERN Large Hadron Collider: Accelerator and Experiments." The Library is distributing these books to anyone wanting a copy. This is a two-volume compilation technically describing the Large Hadron Collider and experiments at the time of the start-up in September 2008. Rolf-Dieter Heuer, CERN Director-General, expects “The seven articles collected in this book will serve as central references for the stream of scientific publication that we expect to emerge from experiments with the LHC over the next 10-20 years. Tango at Fermilab through Dec. 1
Our new series of four tango classes and new Choreography class starts November 10, with instructors Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita. Classes are held each Wednesday in Ramsey Auditorium, Class dates: Nov 10, 17, 24, and Dec 1. Pedestrian Safety Awareness for Families
"Safe Journey" is an interactive pedestrian safety program designed for families. Follow John as he walks from home to a bus stop to go to a soccer field accross town, he returns home after nightfall. Take a walk with John and help him decide how to handle some tricky safety situations. BULLYING: It's everyone's problem Nov. 18
Thursday, Nov. 18, Noon-1:00 p.m., One West, Speaker: Michael Cortina MS., LCPC. A recent study indicates that half of 43,000 students surveyed admitted to bullying in the past year. Suicide, one result of bullying, has been in recent news and is on the rise. This seminar will address recent statistics, the effects on the target individual, and offer tips on how to deal effectively with bullying. It will focus primarily on bullying in children and young adults and will address bullying in the work place. Michael Cortina is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle Program through Dec. 31
ES&H is rolling out its 2nd annual "Accelerate to a Healthy Lifestyle" program which kicks off Oct. 1. The event will run from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31. The goal is to exercise three days per week for 30 minutes. Fermilab Winter Volleyball League
2010/2011 winter volleyball league games will start on Monday, November 15th, at 6pm.
