Sign up for fall Science Adventures
The fall Science Adventures classes have been posted to the Education Office's website. Classes are available for children in grades K-8 and take place on Saturdays. Looking for league bowlers
The Combined FermiLab & Nicor Wednesday Night bowling league (FERMTHERM’s) is looking for a few bowlers (or complete teams). This is a sanctioned mixed league with both Fermilab & NICOR employees + friends. Bowling starts at 5:30 p.m. Cost: $15/week includes bowling and prize funds. Place: Bowling Green Sports Center, 30W150 Roosevelt Road, West Chicago, IL (On Rt. 38 one mile west of Rt. 59). Phone: (630) 231-2400. H1N1 Temporary Sick Leave policy removed
Due to the steady decline in both frequency and severity of influenza-like illness across the laboratory throughout 2010, WDRS has removed the Temporary Changes to Sick Leave (Influenza-Like Illness) policy from the Fermilab personnel policies. The standard sick leave policy is in effect immediately. Learn more

Our new series of four tango classes starts Wednesday, August 4 with instructors Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita. Class dates: August 4, 11, 18,25. Aug. 20 deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program

Applications for URA Visiting Scholars Awards due Aug. 20
Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) has announced a deadline of August 20 for the submission of applications for the fall 2010 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. Regal Movie Theater discount tickets available
The Recreation Department now has Regal Movie Theater Discount Tickets available. Regal Theaters recently purchased the AMC Cantera 30 in Warrenville. Other Regal locations include Bolingbrook Stadium 12, Lake Zurich 12 and Crystal Lake Showplace Stadium 16. We have $8 unrestricted tickets and $7 restricted use tickets available. IMAX and 3D are subject to a surcharge at the theater.

Fermilab Blood Drive August 30 and 31 (Walk in only)
Heartland Blood Centers will gladly take donations in the Wilson Hall ground floor NE Training Room Aug. 30 9-2 p.m. and 31 8-1 p.m. This drive will be walk-in only for whole blood donations. Scottish country dancing in Ramsey Auditorium through August 31
Silk and Thistle Scottish Country Dancing will hold the last two summer meetings in Ramsey Auditorium on Tuesdays, Aug 24 and 31, and then return to Kuhn Village Barn after Labor Day, beginning Sept. 7. Dancing starts each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Most dances are walked through and newcomers are always welcome. Fermilab Lecture Series Presents A Croc Odyssey: Speedy Gallopers with a Taste for Dinosaur
The Lecture Series kicks off with a talk by Paleontologist Dr. Paul Sereno, University of Chicago. Follow the expeditions that discovered a menagerie of new extinct crocs. Meet colossal SuperCroc, fearsome BoarCroc, agile DogCroc and bizarre DuckCroc, as Sereno paints a vivid picture of these extinct African castaways and tangles with their living descendants to unravel the evolutionary story. Sereno’s latest discovery is a site dating back to a time before the pyramids some 10,000 years ago, these people inhabited a “Green Sahara” that was home to 6-foot long perch,crocs and hippos.
