Tartan Day Party at Scottish dancing
Fermilab's Silk and Thistle Scottish dancers will celebrate Tartan Day with a party at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Kuhn Village Barn. Bulgarian dance workshop and live music party, Thursday, April 8
Fermilab International Folk Dancing will hold a workshop with Iliana Bozhanova, a wonderful dance teacher from Bulgaria, on Thursday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m., at Kuhn Village Barn. Iliana is returning to Fermilab this time with accordionist Todor Yankov, who will provide live music for her workshop and for a Bulgarian dance party that evening. Cross-Step Waltz Workshop, Sunday April 11, Kuhn Village Barn
Fermilab's dance groups are sponsoring a workshop on Cross-Step Waltz - an accessible vintage waltz style with a graceful, swooping feel and lots of variations - Sunday, April 11, at Kuhn Village Barn. The workshop will be taught by Jeanette and Mike Watts, longtime dance instructors from Dayton, Ohio (who taught here in 2008). Fermilab blood drive April 19-20
Donors needed for the blood drive April 19 and 20. The Recipe Exchange Potluck Lunch - April 16
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Women’s Organization “The Recipe Exchange” Potluck Lunch will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16, in Chez Leon’s dining room in the Users' Center. Join lab women (guests, visitors, users, and employees) for a potluck lunch by bringing a dish to share, and also share your recipe,(if you can submit your recipe in advance of the event, it would be helpful, we hope to create a cookbook from the recipes that you submit, which you will be able to take home with you that day). If you need help with translating or typing your recipe, please let Mady know when you make your reservation. FORE! The 2010 golf season is about to hit you
The Fermilab Golf League consists of individual leagues, playing on local courses on different nights of the week. There are about 100 golfers in the league. We’d like a few more. We play weekly at the following local courses; Arrowhead Golf Course, Bliss Creek Golf Course and the Fox Valley Golf Course. Membership is open to all Fermilab employees (both present and past), their families and contractors doing business with the lab. If you don’t feel that you can commit to playing every week, all of the leagues offer positions for substitutes that play in an as needed basis. Contact Mike Matulik, x4091, matulik@fnal.gov.

SciTech summer camps start June 14
From June 14 to July 30, SciTech Hands-on Museum in downtown Aurora will offer 24 one-week camps for children, including the popular camps "Totally ballistic!!" and "Kitchen Chemistry" as well as the new "Wild Weather Wonders" camp. Tired of doing the same basic crunches and sit-ups? This strength training workout will focus on increasing flexibility and strengthening the abdominal area. Golfers needed for the Blackberry Oaks Monday Night League. Tee times are on a first come first serve basis. All play is individual and handicaps are determined by USGA Medal Play. Martial Arts Classes beginning March 29
The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session began on March 29. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to new students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to eight students, so you get a lot of personal attention.

Fermilab summer day camp registration deadline April 2
Day Camp information and registration applications are now available in the Recreation Office WH15W, User's Office, The Children's Center and on the Recreation website. Children age 7-12 who are dependents of Fermi employees, visitors or contractors are elibigle to attend Day Camp. Camp will consist of 12 one week sessions beginning June 1. All applications and a $25.00 deposit per session, per child must be turned in to Recreation Office by close of business on April 2. Qi Gong, Mindfulness and Tai Chi Easy for Stress Reduction
This is a FREE weekly wellness class in moving meditation practices for vitality, wellness and stress reduction. We practice gentle movement, breath awareness, self-applied massage, and relaxation practice with guided meditation and visualization to foster higher immune system function, reduce reactivity, and activate internal healing resources. Calling all softball players
Come join Fermilab’s summer COED 14 inch softball league, new teams forming now. Games are played in the village on Wednesday or Thursday nights at 5:30. Season starts May 12 and runs through the end of August. This is not your typical park district league, there is no experience required and there is no cost to join the league. Tai Chi for Health Begins April 8
Tai Chi is a low impact form of exercise that improves balance, range of motion, flexibility, core strength, increases energy, and lowers blood pressure. We emphasize core work and posture to help ease lower back pain and relieve tension in shoulders. Highly beneficial for anyone, including those with Arthritis, Diabetes, Joint Pain, Weight Issues, stress or post Physical Therapy. Level of exertion controlled by individual and can be done seated. NALWO bus trip to The Museum of Science and Industry - April 24
NALWO - Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Women’s Organization - The Museum of Science and Industry, 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, one of the largest science museums in the world, is home to more than 35,000 artifacts and nearly 14 acres of hands-on exhibits designed to spark scientific inquiry and creativity.” A chartered school bus will be leaving from the Lederman Education Center at 10:00am, and will return at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tour costs: $13/adult, $9/child (children ages 3 to 11). Tour cost includes general admission to the museum. Employee Relations is launching a maternity closet for Fermilab employees/users and spouses/significant others to recycle maternity clothing. We are requesting donations of new or gently used maternity clothes for the spring/summer seasons. You may donate permanently or on a temporary basis (if you may need to use the clothes again). Toastmaster at Fermilab - April 1
Come and join us for 1-hour of fun on April 1 at 12:00-noon sharp in WH-1N (1st floor). March 31 deadline to enroll young adult dependents
March 31 is the last day to enroll your young adult dependent for health coverage under the special enrollment period. You may add a dependent to your medical and/or dental plan whether or not they are a student effective 1/1/2010, but you must do so by March 31.
