Atrium events - book through Office of Communication
Due to the overwhelming and often overlapping events in the Wilson Hall atrium, a new scheduling system has been implemented. A new conference room, DIR WH Atrium, has been added to the list of available spaces. You can view the space on Directorate Conference Rooms http://www-dir.fnal.gov/meetingmaker/DirConfRoomsEvents.htm for planning purposes, but only Barb Kronkow, x6633, in the Office of Communication can book events in this space. Facilities Request Forms will still be required.

Barn Dance Dec. 20
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by Money Creek and calling by Paul Watkins. Everyone is welcome. Martial Arts Classes beginning Jan. 4
The next session of martial classes start on Monday, January 4. They are held at the Recreation Facility in the Village, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You will learn how to kick, punch, and all the things you expect from a martial art and you will get something else: self confidence, grace, balance and power, and camaraderie. International folk dancing meets Jan 7
International Folk Dancing will resume Jan. 7, 2010. The group meets Thursdays 7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. Scottish country dancing will meet every Tuesday through December
Silk and Thistle Scottish Country Dancing will be held every Tuesday evening through December without any holiday break.The group meets weekly starting at 7:30 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn and is taught by Doug Jensen. Fermilab December Payroll Information
Due to the upcoming Holidays, weekly time sheets for week ending 12/27 timesheets are due in Payroll by 10:00 a.m on 12/21. Revisions for w/e 12/20 are also due. Pay date will be 12/30. Monthly paid employees will be paid on 12/30. The payroll department will be closed the following dates: December 24, 25, 31 and 1/1/10.

English Country Dancing - Jan. 3
English country dancing will meet on Sunday, Jan. 3, at Kuhn Village Barn. The afternoon starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2-5 p.m. The session will focus on dances for the upcoming Ball weekend with Earl Gaddis and Karen Axelrod (see http://rscds.org under "events"). Newcomers are always welcome. English dancing will continue through the winter on the first Sunday of the month, with live music by Old Fezziwig's Band on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010. Process Piping Materials, Fabrication, Examination & Testing (ASME B31.3) class offered in Feb. 3-4
The focus of this course is to assist you to understand the relationship of the Fabrication & Examination rules of the B31.3 code to the Design and Materials rules. The presentation will include examples of problems that occur as a result of not understanding the relationship of the ASME code to design rules and materials selection. East gate to begin closing 1-5 a.m. beginning Jan 5
On Tuesday, Jan. 5, Fermilab will start closing the east gate at night from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Personnel called in during those hours to work on emergency repairs will be provided access. All other employees and users who wish to enter the site between 1 and 5 a.m. will need to use the main entrance on Pine Street. As the laboratory gains experience with emergency repair access during the night, Fermilab management will modify the procedures as necessary. On 10/28/09, as part of the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was amended to expand exigency and military caregiver leave. Prescription Eyewear Technician – Location Change
Please be advised that the contracted on-site eyewear technician will be moving to a new location beginning Wednesday, November 25. This service will now be located on the Ground Floor in the ES&H Training Room next to the East side entrance - directly across from duplicating. This is also the area where the blood drive is located. Please contact the ES&H Section at x5811 if you have any questions.

Free Introductory Martial Arts Classes - Dec. 14 and 16
On December 14 and 16, the Kyuki-do Martial Arts class will be free to all who wish to try and are willing to sign waivers. You will be taught basic warm up exercises, stretches, and basic kicks, punches, and movement. You will also learn some basic self defense. There will be demos of more advanced technique. Why learn a martial art? One answer is that it’s a great aerobic exercise that over a period of time teaches you a skill. Another answer would be that along with the exercise you learn self-discipline, control, balance, movement, self-confidence, respect, and comradery.

Free Martial Arts Classes - Dec. 14 & 16
Come try out martial arts next week on December 14 & 16 for free. The class starts at 5:00 p.m. and lasts an hour. The class meets in the aerobic room at the recreation center, come early and wear comfortable clothes you can workout in. If you have any questions, call x8863 or email worthel@fnal.gov. The next six-week session begins on Monday, January 4.

Fermilab Blood Drive December 15 and 16
Fermilab Blood Drive December 15 and 16. Fermilab will host a Heartland Blood Centers blood drive Dec 15, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Dec 16, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Hall Ground Floor NE Training Room. Donors will receive a Hoodie sweatshirt. Please schedule appointments via the Web or by calling Diana at x3771 or Margie at x5680. TTIAA-CREF Financial Education Seminar - Dec. 21
On December 21, 2009, TIAA-CREF will hold a Financial Education Seminar covering two new features that have been added for the benefit of Fermilab employees: Roth 403b and Advice and Planning Services.
