Atrium events - book through Office of Communication
Due to the overwhelming and often overlapping events in the Wilson Hall atrium, a new scheduling system has been implemented. A new conference room, DIR WH Atrium, has been added to the list of available spaces. You can view the space on Directorate Conference Rooms http://www-dir.fnal.gov/meetingmaker/DirConfRoomsEvents.htm for planning purposes, but only Barb Kronkow, x6633, in the Office of Communication can book events in this space. Facilities Request Forms will still be required.

FMLA and FTL Policy Updates
On 10/28/09, as part of the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was amended to expand exigency and military caregiver leave. Weight Watchers at Work Program - Dec. 2
Free informational meeting on December 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wilson Hall 15W Aquarium. Learn more about this 8 week program of Weight Watchers onsite meetings beginning December 9 - February 10 (no meetings December 23 or 30). Prescription Eyewear Technician – Location Change
Please be advised that the contracted on-site eyewear technician will be moving to a new location beginning Wednesday, November 25. This service will now be located on the Ground Floor in the ES&H Training Room next to the East side entrance - directly across from duplicating. This is also the area where the blood drive is located. Please contact the ES&H Section at x5811 if you have any questions.

"The Night Before Christmas Carol" at Fermilab Arts Series - Dec. 5
"David absolutely becomes my great-grandfather on stage!" - Cedric Charles Dickens, Great-grandson of Charles Dickens. The Night Before Christmas Carol is a historically accurate and highly humorous holiday production by Elliot Engel. It takes place in 1843 on the night that Charles Dickens dreams up his idea for a ghostly little Christmas book that becomes world famous. Join Charles Dickens in his study as he composes his winter morality tale, and glimpse into the life of the real Dickens explaining his inspirations. English Country Dancing, December 6
English country dancing will meet on Sunday, December 6, at Kuhn Village Barn. The afternoon starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1:00 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. English dancing will continue through the winter on the first Sunday of the month, and there will be live music by Old Fezziwig's Band on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual Employees (GLOBE) at Fermilab - informational meeting Dec. 10
The Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual Employees (GLOBE) at Fermilab group is hosting an informational meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10, 5:30 p.m. in the Piano Room at the Users' Center. The GLOBE Employee Resource Group was formed earlier this year under the auspices of the laboratory’s Diversity Council. Join us to learn more about what this group is doing and how you can participate. Refreshments will be served.

Gallery Talk by Peter Olson - Dec. 11
Peter Olson will give a gallery talk about his exhibition "Dissimulation" on December 11 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wilson Hall, 2nd floor, Art Gallery. Free Introductory Martial Arts Classes - Dec. 14 and 16
On December 14 and 16, the Kyuki-do Martial Arts class will be free to all who wish to try and are willing to sign waivers. You will be taught basic warm up exercises, stretches, and basic kicks, punches, and movement. You will also learn some basic self defense. There will be demos of more advanced technique. Why learn a martial art? One answer is that it’s a great aerobic exercise that over a period of time teaches you a skill. Another answer would be that along with the exercise you learn self-discipline, control, balance, movement, self-confidence, respect, and comradery.

In honor of Fermilab theorist Chris Quigg’s 65th birthday, the Fermilab Theory Group will host a symposium titled “Minute Particulars & Hidden Symmetries,” on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 14-15. Inaugural potluck party - Dec. 16
Enjoy Fermilab's inaugural potluck party from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Between 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Fermilab current and retired employees, users, contractors, funding agency employees and their families and friends will gather in the Wilson Hall atrium to enjoy a variety of cultural cuisine. Fermilab Blood Drive December 15 and 16. Fermilab will host a Heartland Blood Centers blood drive Dec 15, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Dec 16, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Hall Ground Floor NE Training Room. Long distance care giving seminar Dec. 2
Karen Kolb will give a seminar on long distance care giving, titled "Caring from afar: Navigating the rocky road," will take place from noon - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2 in One West. Are you concerned about or providing care for someone who lives at a distance? You may be a long-distance caregiver. To assist in meeting the needs of the growing population of long-distance caregivers, this interactive session will discuss the prevelance of this issue and frequently encountered needs. Discussion will include suggestions for support, gaps in services, national resources, strategies to support caregivers and their loved ones. Overcome Your Fear of Public Speaking
Do you have butterflies in your stomach when it comes to public speaking? Teach them how to fly in formation.
