Frank Oppenheimer and the World He Made Up – Oct. 20
Science journalist KC Cole, former reporter for the LA Times and author of a book about Frank Oppenheimer, will give a 45-minute lunch time presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 12:30 p.m. in One West. Her talk, “The Uncle of the Atom Bomb: Frank Oppenheimer and the World He Made Up,” will recount the touching and sometimes tortuous dialogues between Oppenheimer, Fermilab's founder Robert Wilson and other physicists as they struggled to find a way to survive the nuclear age—dialogues filled with insights more relevant today than ever.

Scottish Country Dancing Tuesday evenings at Kuhn Village Barn

Annual Enrollment begins Oct. 1 through Oct. 23
2010 Annual Enrollment will be October 1 through October 23. You can make changes to your medical or dental plan or enroll in the healthcare or dependent care FSA for the 2010 plan year. The Benefits Office and Insurance Carriers will host Enrollment Resource Sessions to answer questions and provide materials. Announcement Letters will be sent to employee mail stations. Fermilab hosts Workshop on Applications of High-Intensity Proton Accelerators - Oct. 19-21
Register now for the Workshop on Applications of High-Intensity Proton Accelerators, which will take place at Fermilab Oct. 19-21. Workshop attendees will discuss the challenges for building a high-intensity proton accelerator, focusing specifically on superconducting linear accelerators and their potential applications for such areas as discovery science and nuclear energy. The workshop will help enable the design of the proposed Project X, muon collider and other future accelerators that may use superconducting radiofrequency technology. NALWO Seminar - An Introduction to Neurofeedback Oct. 14
NALWO - Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Women's Organization invites you to a seminar featuring: An Introduction to Neurofeedback, presented by Anna Tur, Neurofeedback Therapist, BCIA-EEG, Wednesday, October 14 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Wilson Hall, 2nd floor, Comitium Room. Anna Tur has worked as a neurologist in "The Hospital for Addictions" in Moscow, Russia, prior to moving to the United States in 1997. She is currently working as a Neurofeedback Therapist at "The Life Worth Living" located in Naperville, Illinois, as well as at "The Community Neurologic Center", in Geneva, Illinois. Anna's assessment and treatment are based on her previous clinical experience, and incorporates EEG Analysis and Neurofeedback. No reservation is needed. Claim Your Bikes Outside Wilson Hall
Wilson Hall Building Manager John Kent requests all bicyclists to claim their bikes that are located in the Wilson Hall East and West bike racks. Tags will be placed on all bikes in those areas Wednesday, October 7. Bicyclist must remove the tag and bring them to the ComCenter office which is located on the Ground Floor Wilson Hall. Bikes that are not claimed by Thursday, October 15 will be removed and processed as abandoned. Contact John Kent at x4753 with any questions.
