Pool Memberships are available in the Recreation Department
The Recreation Department will be selling pool memberships from now until August. You may purchase membership at the Recreation Office in Wilson Hall 15 West from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Single membership $80, family membership (2-4 members) $180 with additional family members $10 each. Children 2 and under are free. Children's swim lesson information will also be available. Forms are available in the Recreation Office, or on the Recreation Website at http://wdrs.fnal.gov/recreation/pool.html.

Finance Section Has the Largest Turnout at Employee Health & Fitness Day
The Finance Section had 47% of their department turnout for Fermilab's Employee Health & Fitness Day Walk. Congratulations! Finance Section employees that participated will receive a Free 30-Day Membership to the Recreation Facility. ES&H was on their heals with 46%, WDRS followed with 29%, Accelerator Division 17%, Technical Division 11%, Directorate 10%, PPD 8%, Computing Division 7%, CMS Center 7%, Business Services 6%, Accelerator Physics Center 2%, and FESS 1%. Thank you for participating in this year's walk. Hope to see you out there again next year.

New URA Email Address
We have recently changed the domain name of the URA email address, as follows, from, address@ura.nw.dc.us, to, http://www.ura-hq.org/. For awhile our old address will run in parallel with the new, so that we don't lose any emails sent from the previous address.

Users Office closed May 27, 29
The Users Office will be closed on Wednesday, May 27, and Friday, May 29 to prepare for the upcoming Users Annual Conference.

Asian/Pacific quiz contest winners week 3

Computing account requests reach peak season
May is peak season for creating new computer accounts due to the influx of students, visitors and researchers on-site and requests from remote users around the world. The Fermilab Service Desk is processing many account requests per day and is working additional hours to reduce the wait. The Service Desk personnel appreciate your patience during this time. Information about H1N1 inluenza is now available through Fermilab's Inluenza Q&A Web page. A flu questions form also allows employees and users to submit questions related to the H1N1 influenza.

Argentine Tango Classes through June 24

Accelerated C++ Short Course: registration open - June 8
On June 8, Fermilab will offer the first session of Accelerated C++: A Short Course in Practical Programming by Example. The Short Course is an extended professional development experience that emphasizes computer programming in modern standard C++. No tuition is charged; the required textbooks will be available for check-out from the Fermilab Library. Participants receive TRAIN credit upon successful completion of the eight-session course. Walter Brown, who participates on Fermilab's behalf in the international C++ standardization effort, is the course instructor. He is a member of the Co. International folk dancing - last at Barn May 28, cancelled June 4, resumes at Auditorium June 11
International Folk Dancing will meet for the last time at Kuhn Village Barn Thursday May 28, before moving for the summer to the stage of Ramsey Auditorium. The group meets weekly through the summer in the Auditorium, beginning Thursday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. There will be no dancing on Thursday, June 4. Newcomers are always welcome. English Country Dancing, June 21
English country dancing will next meet on Sunday June 21, at Kuhn Village Barn. Nanotechnology Lecture: Crafting of Self-Assembling Materials for Medicine & Energy - Fermilab Arts Series
Function in the biological world emerges from self-assembly of macromolecules and small molecules across scales. This lecture will describe the design of molecules for self-assembly into nanostructures that can function as bioactive materials to signal cells in regeneration, or hybrid materials to optimize charge and energy transfer. The implications for this type of research are endless, and the research done at the Stupp Laboratory has already noted advances in regenerative improvement from spinal cord injuries, from damage to the heart, and in rebuilding blood vessel growth. Susan Werner - Singer/Songwriter Performs on Arts Series

Free yoga open house
A free yoga open house class will take place in the User's Center Piano Room on Thursday, May 28, 4:45-5:45 p.m. Wear comfortable clothes. In this one hour class you can learn a variety of breathing and relaxation techniques along with resting poses and body purifiers. These exercises can help bring the body to optimal balance and health.
