EPRA Group Performance recognition awards go to selected employees

Fermilab recognized a group dedicated employees for their outstanding contributions with Exceptional Performance Recognition Awards. The employees were nominated by their divisions and sections for the awards. Fermilab Director Pier Oddone handed out the awards at a reception on the 15th floor of Wilson Hall on June 26.

"While everybody is doing their job in a great way to make this organization work as well as it does, there are people who go beyond that and put in extra effort and those are the people who we recognize today," Oddone said.

The following employees received awards:

Paul Czarapata
Accelerator Division

Paul Czarapata is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for outstanding leadership in the Accelerator Division, including leading the effort to improve the reliability of the accelerator complex and also for leadership in maintaining and improving the engineering standards at Fermilab.

Keith Gollwitzer
Accelerator Division

Keith Gollwitzer is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for leadership in the effort to increase the antiproton stacking rate in the Antiproton Source.

Patrick Hurh
Accelerator Division

Patrick Hurh is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his leadership in the development of the high gradient lithium lens for antiproton stacking.

Robert Mau
Accelerator Division

Robert Mau is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for organizing and coordinating the accelerator shutdowns.

Ralph Pasquinelli
Accelerator Division

Ralph Pasquinelli is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his contribution to the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the 1.7 GHz Schottky monitor for the Tevatron, as well as his contribution to the effort to increase the antiproton stacking rate in the Antiproton Source.

Cheng-Yang Tan
Accelerator Division

Cheng-Yang Tan is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his design and commissioning of the Tevatron longitudinal and transverse bunch-by-bunch dampers and antiproton PBJ—critical instruments for high luminosity Collider Run II operation.

Stephen Werkema
Accelerator Division

Steve Werkema is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his leadership and analysis in the effort to increase the antiproton stacking rate in the Antiproton Source.

Sheila Cisko
Computing Division

Sheila Cisko is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for her dedication to the advancement of many projects and collaborations by her excellence in all aspects of the video conferencing user experience.

Panagiotis Spentzouris
Computing Division

Panagiotis Spentzouris is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his leadership and technical excellence in the development of a successful multi-institution proposal for funding of a major part of US accelerator modeling efforts.

Margaret Votava
Computing Division

Margaret Votava is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for her technical excellence and devotion to the software engineering needs of two major components of the Fermilab program (ILC and CDF) and for outstanding efforts in communications and collaboration.

Humberto Gonzalez
Particle Physics Division

Humberto Gonzalez is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his excellent technical leadership in the production of the CMS Silicon Forward Pixel project.

Cary Kendziora
Particle Physics Division

Cary Kendziora is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his outstanding and innovative work in the development of the Liquid Argon Materials Test Stand, a key element in the international R&D program working towards the development of large Liquid Argon TPCs for neutrino physics, proton decay, and other physics research.

Marco Verzocchi is awarded an Exceptional Performance Recognition Award for his leadership in the timely development, implementation, and testing of the trigger suite that prepared and enabled DZero to efficiently utilize high instantaneous luminosities by integrating the inputs from the Run IIb trigger upgrade into the DZero detector trigger system.
