NALWO - Winter Holiday Tea, Dec. 5
NALWO, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory women's organization, invites lab women (guests, visitors, users and employees) to a "Winter Holiday Tea" hosted by Barbara Oddone at her home (Site #29) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., no RSVP required. Fermilab Film - "My Left Foot" Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
Fermilab Film Society will present a showing of "My Left Foot" on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. in Ramsey Auditorium. Daniel Day-Lewis gives an Academy Award winning performance as Christy Brown, a man thought to be mentally challenged by his Irish family. This true story of his growing up in poverty and overcoming the severe physical disability of only being able to control his left foot is a wonderful example of courage in the face of tremendous odds. Carols for Dancing - A Renaissance Christmas at Fermilab, Dec. 6
With a vigorous Renaissance dance band and two dancers, the Renaissonics present a night of festive music and dance, old style. Don't miss this energetic performance on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. in Fermilab's Ramsey Auditorium. English Country Dancing, Dec. 7
English Country Dancing will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, at Kuhn Village Barn. There will be live music by Old Fezziwig's Band and some special holiday selections. Dancing will begin at 1 p.m. with more advanced dances, and general dancing will be held after 2 p.m. There will be a potluck supper following the dancing, at about 5:30 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. NALWO - A Russian Style New Year
This is a traditional Russian Style New Year celebration for children, Saturday, Dec. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kuhn Barn. The event will begin with a non-professional children’s performance, in the Russian language, based on the Russian folk tale “Twelve Months”, English translation will be provided. “Grandfather Frost” will visit the children following the performance, and traditional Russian songs will be sung by all. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, following the activities. Please note that this is a ticketed event. Adult admission is free, but children admission is $10. SciTech winter camps, Dec. 22-23 and 29-30
SciTech offers two 2-day winter camps for kids ages 6-14: Dec. 22-23, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Dec. 29-30, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Parents can drop off their children anytime between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and pick them up between 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. SciTech staff will supervise all campers at all times.
