Interactions News Wire Barry Barish to lead International Linear Collider design At the Linear Collider Workshop held at Stanford University, the International Committee for Future Accelerators (ICFA) on Friday, March 18, announced the

Berkeley Lab Throws Going Away Party for Pier Oddone From Today at Berkeley Lab, March 17, 2005
A celebration of his contributions has been scheduled for Thursday,
March 24, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Berkeley Lab Cafeteria. Refreshments
and music will accompany a brief program, which will include remarks
from the honored guest.

As we celebrate its tenth birthday, top quark physics is going through a period of rapid growth. The precise measurement of the top quark mass is used to predict the mass of the Higgs boson in the standard model. Theoretical physicists try to explain why the top quark is so heavy, and whether its great mass reveals something special about all of the quark masses.
The Tevatron now produces as many top quarks in six weeks as it did in all of
its operation before 2001. We will be hearing a lot more from CDF and DZero
about the top quark later this year and for many years to come.
