Farewell, Bob Stroud

Bob Stroud |
Bob Stroud retires today after 24 years in the Fermilab Machine Shop.
He joined the laboratory in February 1980 as an instrument machinist,
and worked his way up to supervisor of the Wilson Hall Machine Shop.
"I've worked on a little bit of everything," said Stroud, including
just about every project that has come through the shop in the last 24 years.
Stroud and his wife will be moving from their current home in Sandwich
to a 40-acre farm near Mount Vernon in southern Illinois. Stroud plans
to spend time hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.
His nine grandchildren, ages 6 to 20, all live in the Mount Vernon area.
He will also have more time for another hobby--restoring antique tractors.
"I've got a 1936 and a 1939 John Deere, and they both need a lot of work,"
said Stroud. He plans to purchase more, and to put those he's restored to
work on the farm.
