Grand Opening of Wilson Hall Café | ||

Have you wondered about the changes taking place in the Wilson Hall
cafeteria? Today is the grand opening of the Wilson Hall
Café under Fermilab's new foodservice contractor,
Southern Foodservice Management. To celebrate the first week
of operations, free samples from vendors such as Frito Lay
and Starbucks will be available in the Café throughout the week.
"We want employees to come down and see the new look and concepts," said Hank Dreyer, Southern's director of food operations at Fermilab. "We're adding a lot of different elements to the cafe, including the Showplace, where an experienced chef will cook meals to order."
Southern Foodservice Management also provides complete
catering for the laboratory, under the direction of Howie Leighty.
Southern has been in business for over 50 years and operates
in 20 different states.

Introducing New Wilson Hall Building Manager Stan Boyson | ||

As of March 1, Stan Boyson of FESS became the Wilson Hall Building Manager.
Prior to his current position, Boyson was a Construction Coordinator
for FESS. "I often worked hand in hand with the Wilson Hall building
manager when I was a Construction Coordinator," said Boyson.
"Everything is going very smoothly so far as Building Manager."
Boyson started his career at Fermilab 29 years ago as a model maker
in the Technical Division. He worked for the Technical Division up
until 1999 when he became a Construction Coordinator for FESS. "The
site model that is now on the fifteenth floor was one of the first
models that I worked on when I first came here," Boyson said.
"I suppose I've gone from the very small to the very large."

April 14 - April 16 - Operations established one store during this period of time. That store combined with an existing store provided the experiments with approximately 15 hours and 48 minutes of luminosity. - A problem developed with the some Meson SWICs and SEMs. - The TeV quenched early Thursday morning. A TeV kicker prefire caused the quench. The kicker posed a problem all the way through to Friday morning.

Shoulder the Pain
Since 1984, Fermilab has experienced 122 recordable shoulder injuries. Although this is less than 5% of the total, shoulder injuries have accounted for 12% of the lost work and limited duty days. At Fermilab, 57 percent of the shoulder injuries are caused by overexertion. Fermilab's Business Services Section has gone 610 days without a DART case, but it actually has a higher rate of shoulder injuries than the rest of the lab because material handling is a major feature of their work.
Shoulder injuries primarily occur from overuse or from
falling on an outstretched hand. The Medical Department
has seen overuse injuries in employees who work for prolonged
periods with their hands raised. To reduce your chances of
sustaining a shoulder injury, consider the following precautions:
