NALWO Thanksgiving dinner demo
Wednesday, 18 November at 5 PM fro cooking demo, 6:30 PMtastings and potluck meal at Chez Leon. Get acquainted with and learn how to prepare the typical foods of an American Thanksgiving dinner. All are welcome . There is no need to bring food. but you are invited to bring your special Thanksgiving side dish to share (turkey will be provided). A cookbook will be available at the event. Black Violet, Act III - The Unnatural Order - Fifth House Ensemble

Taking place in1665, amidst one of the most terrifying passages of London's history. The last major outbreak of Plague is decimating the populace. The Femrilab Arts & Lecture Series is pleased to present one of Chicago's most innovative music ensembles, the Fifth House Ensemble. Barn Dance Nov. 8
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a very special Barn Dance on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with nationally renowned caller Phil Jamison and music by the Volo Bogtrotters. International folk dancing 7 p.m. start this Thursday, Nov. 5, at Kuhn Barn, no dancing on Thanksgiving
International folk dancing meets weekly, Thursday evenings, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. but this Thursday,Nov. 5, dancing will begin at 7 p.m. with a special beginner program. Newcomers are always welcome. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early in the evening and request dancing later on. Many of the dances are lines and circles, with no partners needed. Thanksgiving cooking demo, recipe sharing, potluck tasting meal - Wednesday, Nov 18, 5 p.m. Chez Leon
NALWO-Fermilab's Community Organization will host a discussion, demo and meal to share the diversity of American Thanksgiving traditions on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Chez Leon. Starting at 5 p.m., we'll discuss classic ingredients and how to prepare them, and at 6:30 p.m. we'll share a meal of turkey (provided) and potluck side dishes. We encourage all to contribute their favorite Thanksgiving recipes for a cookbook and bring samples for the tasting meal. However visitors are also welcome without a food contribution. Excel 2013: Pivot Tables - November 11
During this course, you will learn how to use Pivot Tables to summarize and analyze large amounts of data. Including: Describe the Anatomy of a Pivot Table including limitations, with Instructor's approval. Demonstrate proficiency in using Pivot Tables to answer questions by category and by month and use a chart to view the summary graphically. Director's Award nominations close Friday

Workshop on Booster Performance and Enhancments - Nov. 23-24
The Proton Improvement Plan (PIP) will be hosting a Workshop that will be held on 23- 24 November 2015 at Wilson Hall. This Booster Workshop will bring together partners, collaborators, users and collegial experts to confer with Fermilab accelerator physicists and experts to critically assess issues related to the intensity and performance of the the Fermilab Booster synchrotron, and comparable accelerators elsewhere. UChicago 125th anniversary celebration - Nov. 13
You are invited to attend the University of Chicago's 125th anniversary and its partnership with Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab. Nigel Lockyer will be one of the speakers, as will Rahm Emanuel, Robet Zimmer, and former Argonne director Eric Isaacs. The event takes place on Friday, Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the William Eckhart Research Center, 5640 S. Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) end of life December 14
Starting December 14, the Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) operating system will no longer be supported by Apple and therefore, will no longer receive security updates. Fermilab-owned computers, by laboratory policy, must run vendor-supported operating systems to avoid security risks. Mac OS X Mountain Lion users must submit a Service Desk ticket at https://fermi.service-now.com/fsc/ to have their computer upgraded to OS X Yosemite (10.10) before December 14. After that date, any computer running OS X Mountain Lion will be blocked from accessing the Fermilab network. If you have any questions, please contact the Service Desk.

Try Pickleball at the Gym
An open Pickleball League is being formed at the gym. Come try it out on Monday, November 2, anytime between 4pm and 6pm and/or Wednesday, November 4, Noon-2pm. Pickleball is a slower and smaller court version of tennis. Beginner paddles will be provided. Gym members can just show up. Non-gym members can obtain a free trial membership and access to the gym from Jeanne Ecker at jecker@fnal.gov or x2548. Pickleball is ideal for those who don't move as fast as they used to but want to get some exercise and have fun at the same time.

CSADay 2015
The annual Computer Security Awareness Day taking place this year on Tuesday, Nov. 10th, offers live ITNA computer security courses in the morning, plus an afternoon Speed Session of various IT and computer security-related, not-for-credit presentations by experts in their fields. English country dancing Halloween Party Sunday afternoon Oct. 25 at Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will feature a Halloween theme Sunday, October 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome to join this social and accessible sort of dancing. Costumes are encouraged, and donations of treats for the break are welcomed. The next dance, on Sunday, November 22, will have live music by Old Fezziwig's Band. Fermilab Board Game Guild
The Fermilab Board Game Guild meets every Tuesday at the User's Center from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Everyone is welcome, and no connection with Fermilab is required. Board games played include, but are not limited to, Puerto Rico, Ticket To Ride, Seven Wonders, Stone Age, Attica, Alhambra, Citadels, and many more.
