Pine street Closed for Repairs on Saturday, 9/26/15 from 6am-1pm
This Saturday, 9/26/15, Pine Street will be closed between Kirk Rd and Pine Crossover Street from 6am to 1pm for blacktop work on both inbound and outbound Pine St.

Siemens Mobile Showcase Is Coming to Fermilab
Siemens will be onsite, Tuesday, September 29, 9am to 1pm, exhibiting a fully-functioning instrumentation demo rig on wheels, showcasing their latest Process Instrumentation and Analytics products. You'll get free hands-on demonstrations, interactive process simulations, video training, and the chance to meet with Siemens product specialists, all under a single roof. ALL Fermilab personnel are welcome and encouraged to attend! Location: Fermilab Parking Lot, West of Wilson Hall, on Kautz Rd, next to the Reflection Pond.

NALWO Evening Social
Everyone is invited to an Evening Social sponsored by NALWO, Fermilab's Community Organization, on Wedensday October 7, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Users' Center (Music Room). Hors d'oeuvres and lemonade will be provided; other beverages may be purchased at the bar. Contributions of food are welcome, and we encourage you to share your recipe for later distribution in a pamphlet! (Recipes may be sent to mady.newfield@gmail.com, or brought to the event.) Wilson Hall southwest elevator offline Sept. 22-26
Wilson Hall Elevator Car no.1 (Southwest Unit) is scheduled for extensive repairs that will require the unit being off-line from Tuesday Sept. 22nd through Saturday Sept. 26th The repairs will encompass replacement of the unit's sheaves and cables.

Process Piping Design (ASME) and Process Piping, Material, Fabrication, Examination and Testing (ASME & API) scheduled October 13, 14, 15 and 16

FSPA Officer Nominations
he Fermilab Student and Postdoc Association (FSPA) is calling for nominations for next year's FSPA Officers! If you are a young researcher at the lab and want to give something back to the community consider nominating yourself or someone you know. This is a great opportunity to see how the lab is run, to have a chance to meet your Congressional representatives in Washington DC, and to organize activities with your fellow students. OS X El Capitan (10.11) not yet certified for Fermilab use
Apple has announced that the latest version of the operating system, OS X El Capitan (10.11), will be released on Sept. 30. Desktop Engineering has begun testing to ensure that OS X El Capitan works with Fermilab tools and services including dependent vendor tools that enable Fermilab to remain DOE compliant. Once confident that OS X El Capitan meets the performance requirements, an approval announcement will be sent out, and you may submit a request through the Service Desk to have the upgrade installed. Desktop Engineering expects to complete this process by early December.

English country dancing, September 27, in Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will be held Sunday, September 27, at Kuhn Village Barn. The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome to join this social and accessible sort of dancing. We will dance to live music by Old Fezziwig's Band. The group meets monthly, year-round, and is looking forward to a special October weekend with the nation's most famous English dance musicians, Bare Necessities. This class is for individuals who want to boost their conflict management skills. Learn to accept and manage conflict more effectively. Upon completing this half day class, you will be able to identify your default conflict management style, how to capitalize on various conflict management styles, accept conflict as an inevitable part of all work situations, be aware of the positive and negative byproducts of conflict on the job, understand how to establish a cooperative atmosphere in which to resolve conflicts as they arise, learn and practice a step-by-step collaborative approach to resolving conflict. Scottish country dancing moves to Kuhn Barn Tuesdays evenings after Labor Day
Scottish country dancing will meet on Sept. 1 at Ramsey Auditorium in Wilson Hall, then move after Labor Day, beginning Sept. 8, to Kuhn Village Barn for the fall season. Dancing is held weekly from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome and are paired with experienced dancers -- no need to come with a partner. International folk dancing returns to Kuhn Barn Thursday evenings after Labor Day
nternational folk dancing will meet on Sept. 3 in Ramsey Auditorium, then will move back to Kuhn Village Barn for the fall season, beginning Sept. 10. Dancing is held weekly, Thursday evenings, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early in the evening and request dancing later on. Many of the dances are lines and circles, with no partners needed. Fermilab Board Game Guild
The Fermilab Board Game Guild meets every Tuesday at the User's Center from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Everyone is welcome, and no connection with Fermilab is required. Board games played include, but are not limited to, Puerto Rico, Ticket To Ride, Seven Wonders, Stone Age, Attica, Alhambra, Citadels, and many more. Fermilab Arts Series presents 10,000 Maniacs!
The marvelous closing (Hey Jack Kerouac) sent the crowd away feeling fulfilled and elated to spend the Saturday night with 10,000 Maniacs. It is not often music fans have the opportunity to experience an influential band such as 10,000 Maniacs in such an intimate setting. It can not be understated the impact the band had on Alternative Rock during the 1980s, and thankfully their legacy still continues all these years later. – Cryptic Rock. Join us for 10,000 Maniacs.
