2015 Alvin Tollestrup Award application deadline - April 1
Universities Research Association Inc. (URA) will make an award for outstanding work conducted by a postdoctoral research fellow at Fermilab or in collaboration with Fermilab scientists. All Ph.D. researchers in non-tenure track or non-tenure track equivalent positions at Fermilab or URA member institutions, or institutions collaborating in Fermilab projects, who are within six years of the receipt of their Ph.D. (as of the nomination deadline) are eligible. The work for which the award is made must be performed in conjunction with a Fermilab experiment or project, or under the auspices of the Fermilab Theory or Astrophysics Groups. March 6, 2015 deadline for The University of Chicago Tuition Remission Program

URA Visiting Scholars Program proposal deadline delayed to March 30
Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA) has announced a delayed deadline of Monday, March 30 for the submission of proposals for the Spring 2015 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. For details on the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab, including eligibility, application process, award administration, and the names of past award recipients, visit the URA Visiting Scholars Web site.

March 9 Deadline Approaches for Summer On-site Housing Requests
The March 9 deadline for requesting onsite housing reservations for the summer of 2015 draws near. Requests for houses, apartments, and dormitory rooms can be made for any period and need not begin on any particular date. To make a request, please contact the Housing Office at (630)840-3777 or housing@fnal.gov. Individual housing requests can be made by using our Online Housing Request form at http://fess.fnal.gov/accommodations/housing_request.html . Requests for multiple housing units are best handled by direct email to housing@fnal.gov.

Lab-Corps Program open to Fermilab employees
Lab-Corps, a new U.S. Dept. of Energy program that gives national lab researchers the opportunity and tools to determine if technology they have developed is suitable for commercialization, is accepting applications https://www.younoodle.com/competitions/labcorps_program until 5 p.m. on March 13. Fermilab Golf League 2015 Season just around the corner. Not kidding!
Fermilab Golf League is opening it's 2015 season in the spring. If you're interested in playing as a member of a four-person team in a competitive, but handicapped, league, please consider joining. We have members of all abilities and genders, so you'd fit right in. We have openings in both our Tuesday and Wednesday evening leagues. Golf is an activity enjoyed by many, but mastered by few. The key to getting better is to play more often. The Golf League provides an opportunity to do just that - reinforced by the competitive component. URA Thesis Award Competition
Fermilab and the Universities Research Association invite submissions for the eighteenth annual URA Thesis Award competition. Nominations must be submitted to Lenny Spiegel at lenny@fnal.gov by March 20, 2015 and should include two letters supporting the merits of the thesis being nominated. At least one letter should be from a member of the thesis committee of the PhD granting institution and, for work carried out in collaboration with Fermilab scientists, at least one of the letters should come from one of those scientists. International folk dancing Thursday evenings at Kuhn Barn
International folk dancing meets Thursday evenings every week at Kuhn Barn. Dancing runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and newcomers are always welcome. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early and request dancing later on. Yoga Signup Due Soon
Stretch, move, and refresh in this all-level Yoga class. Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, this class will help you feel both energized and relaxed. Alignment-based poses and flowing movement combine to improve your flexibility, strength and balance. Please bring your own yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. Monday session is March 2 – April 20, (7 wks. – 1 week vacation TBD) from 12-12:45pm at the WHGFE Training Room. Fee is $55. Register by February 23. Scottish country dancing Tuesday evenings at Kuhn Barn
Silk and Thistle Scottish country dancing is held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. The group and is taught by Doug Jensen. Newcomers are always welcome and are paired with experienced dancers -- no need to come with a partner. Winter cancellations are announced by email the afternoon of the dance and on the labwide calendar. Open Gym Basketball for Gym Members
Open Gym Basketball is available to paid Fermilab Gym Members on Wednesdays, 6-9pm, at the Fitness Center in the Village. Come on out and join others in a pick up basketball game. NALWO Puerto Rican cooking demo - March 9
NALWO invites everyone to join in a participatory demonstration of Puerto Rican cooking, led by Irma Almirall-Padamsee, at Chez Leon. English country dancing Sunday afternoons, February 8 and March 1, at Kuhn Barn
English country dancing will be held Sunday, February 8, at Kuhn Village Barn (rescheduled after the snow-related cancellation of Feb. 1). The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome to join this social and accessible sort of dancing. The group meets monthly, year-round. The next dance is on Sunday, March 1, with live music by Old Fezziwig's Band.
