Wilson Hall Cafe open Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Wilson Hall cafeteria will be open this Saturday, April 5, to accommodate those attending the Tornado and Severe Weather seminars. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Strength Training Registration Due April 11
The next session of Strength Training by Bod Squad will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 17 - June 12 (no class 5/22) at the Fitness Center Exercise Room from 5-6pm. Fee is $82/person. Please register by April 11. A free trial class is available on Thursday, April 10, from 5-6pm at the Fitness Center Exercise Room for anyone that would like to try it out. No registration is required for the trial class. The Fitness Center will be open. Please note that you do NOT need a gym membership to sign up for fitness classes. Artist Reception - April 16 5-7pm
Renowned statistician and artist Edward Tufte will launch an exhibit of his sculptures titled "The Cognitive Art of Feynman Diagrams" on April 12 - June 26, and come to the artist's reception on April 16 5-7pm. Interpersonal Communication Skills
In this class you will assess your communication strengths and weaknesses; understand the differences between passive, assertive and aggressive communication; learn how to speak with more enthusiasm, expressiveness and clarity; become a more effective listener; learn how non-verbal messages affect communication; learn how to work and communicate more effectively with different personality styles; and set specific communication goals as part of your individualized Communication Plan (CAP) and apply them daily back on the job. English country dancing Sunday, April 6, at Kuhn Barn with live music
English country dancing will be held Sunday, April 6, at Kuhn Village Barn. There will be live music by Old Fezziwig's Band.The program starts with dances for experienced dancers at 1 p.m., and dances for everyone from 2 to 5 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. The group meets monthly, on the 1st Sunday of the month through May, then with a varying schedule through the summer. 2014 Fermilab Golf League Season is upon us
Want to golf more than you have been lately? Consider joining the Fermilab Golf League. We have leagues playing weekly at the Fox Valley (North Aurora Wednesday evenings) and Bliss Creek (Sugar Grove Tuesday evenings) Golf Courses over the 2014 season. Golfers of all abilities are encouraged to play in our friendly, handicapped format. If you would like to play more, but feel that you can't commit to every week, we also look for golfers to fill our sub' pool. In the sub' pool, you would be contacted if one of the full-time golfers was unable to play. The season starts soon so contact Mike Matulik at email@example.com or x4091 for more information.

Abri Credit Union Giving Away Two $1,000 Scholarships
Abri Credit Union is giving out two $1,000 scholarships this year to our members. One is for a graduating high school senior and the other one is to a post graduate student currently attending college. To be considered, they must submit a 60-second video that conveys a clear, clever message of his or her financial knowledge on one of the chosen topics listed. C2ST: The Real Science behind Star Trek - April 2
Star Trek is a story of exploration that has fascinated us for the last 50 years. A crucial part of this story are unbelievable scientific and technological advances that make the exploration of the universe possible. But are these advances really beyond our reach, or have we already surpassed some of them? Dirk K. Morr, professor of physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will give a talk titled "The Real Science Behind Star Trek" on Wednesday, April 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. It takes place in the Behavioral Science Building (BSB) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, 1007 West Harrison Street, Room 250. Active For Multi-Lab Challenge
Whether you are thinking about becoming physically active or have been active for years this 9-week program encourages you to be more active and eat healthier. This is a team based approach with individuals setting their own goals. Their are 6 DOE Labs competing in the challenge. Earn life points for each minute of physical activity. Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on March 31. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $60.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to ten students.

West Bike Rack Area Closed
The bike racks and adjacent area located west of Wilson Hall will be closed due to construction activities for the remote operations centers. The east side bike racks will be available during the construction period.
Walk 2 Run Begins March 20
This FREE 10-week program will teach you to run, improve your fitness, and assist you in losing weight and lowering cholesterol. Week One will consist of running 2 minutes and walking 4 minutes, repeated 5 times. We will gradually increase your running potential each week. Week Ten will consist of a 30 minute continuous run. You are welcome to join us regardless of age, speed or level of experience. Wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothes. Bring water. Thursdays, March 20 – May 22, 4:45 – 5:30pm. MySQL relational database management system course - April 22-23
This 2-day course encourages application and web developers and system administrators to explore database fundamentals, as well as MySQL features. You will learn the basics of MySQL use and the programming of stored routines and triggers. You will also participate in database design discussions, perform administrative functions, learn about optimization and performance tuning, and explore various APIs. Portions of West Atrium Stair Closed for Construction
Construction work for the Experimental Operations Center is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 10, 2014. This work, on the Atrium Level of Wilson Hall, will require the closing of portions of the west stairway. Access from the ground floor, Atrium level and second floor of this stairway will be blocked for the duration of the construction activities. Access above the second floor will be maintained.

The FRA Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis to the child of a parent who is a regular, full-time Fermilab/FRA employee. Scholarship applications are due in the Office for Professional and Organization Development by Apr. 1.
