Scottish country dancing meets Tuesday evenings at Kuhn Village Barn
Silk and Thistle Scottish country dancing is held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. The group and is taught by Doug Jensen. Newcomers are always welcome and are paired with experienced dancers -- no need to come with a partner. To get on the

International folk dancing meets Thursday evenings at Kuhn Village Barn
International folk dancing is held every Thursday evening, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. Newcomers are always welcome. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early and request dancing later on. The group dances year-round, moving to Ramsey Auditorium in the summer. C2ST: The Real Science behind Star Trek - April 2
Star Trek is a story of exploration that has fascinated us for the last 50 years. A crucial part of this story are unbelievable scientific and technological advances that make the exploration of the universe possible. But are these advances really beyond our reach, or have we already surpassed some of them? Dirk K. Morr, professor of physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will give a talk titled "The Real Science Behind Star Trek" on Wednesday, April 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. It takes place in the Behavioral Science Building (BSB) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, 1007 West Harrison Street, Room 250. Active For Life Multi-Life Challenge
Whether you are thinking about becoming physically active or have been active for years this 9-week program encourages you to be more active and eat healthier. This is a team based approach with individuals setting their own goals. Their are 6 DOE Labs competing in the challenge. Earn life points for each minute of physical activity. Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on March 31. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $60.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. My class size is limited to ten students.
Fermilab App Development Day for High School Students
Do you have a great idea for an app but need help with the programming? Join Fermilab computer scientists on Saturday, March 29 from 1-5pm for help building your app on the platform of your choice. West Bike Rack Area Closed
The bike racks and adjacent area located west of Wilson Hall will be closed due to construction activities for the remote operations centers. The east side bike racks will be available during the construction period.
Walk 2 Run Begins March 20
This FREE 10-week program will teach you to run, improve your fitness, and assist you in losing weight and lowering cholesterol. Week One will consist of running 2 minutes and walking 4 minutes, repeated 5 times. We will gradually increase your running potential each week. Week Ten will consist of a 30 minute continuous run. MySQL relational database management system course - April 22-23
This 2-day course encourages application and web developers and system administrators to explore database fundamentals, as well as MySQL features. You will learn the basics of MySQL use and the programming of stored routines and triggers. You will also participate in database design discussions, perform administrative functions, learn about optimization and performance tuning, and explore various APIs. Portions of West Atrium Stair Closed for Construction
Construction work for the Experimental Operations Center is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 10, 2014. This work, on the Atrium Level of Wilson Hall, will require the closing of portions of the west stairway. Access from the ground floor, Atrium level and second floor of this stairway will be blocked for the duration of the construction activities. Access above the second floor will be maintained.
