Family Science Days in Chicago - Feb. 15-16
Family Science Days is a free community science showcase featuring hands-on demos, shows - including Fermilab's Mr. Freeze - and other activities appropriate for K-12 children and their families. The event features a broad range of educators and scientists promoting an interest in science among the public. As part of the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, it takes place this year at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Purple Level, on Feb. 15-16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit http://meetings.aaas.org/public/family-science-days/ for more information and to register.

Fermi Singers invites new members
The Fermilab singers invite all interested lab employees and their family members to join us Wednesdays from noon-1pm in Ramsey Auditorium. All vocal parts are welcome to join and no experience is necessary. We work though a wide variety of classical and contemporary choral pieces in a variety of languages, and are always looking for new material. Start the new year by extending your vocal repertoire! NALWO CrÍpe Cooking Demo, Feb. 3 at 10:30am
Celebrate La Chandeleur (CrÍpe Day) with NALWO's cooking demo at Chez Leon. It will be on Monday, 3 February, beginning at 10:30 AM. Our chefs will show how to make crÍpes, demonstrate the variety of batter recipes and fillings, and we will all enjoy eating the results. To assure we have enough ingredients, please RSVP to NALWO@fnal.gov by Friday, January 29. If you have a favorite recipe, please include it. A booklet of recipes will be provided to everyone attending.

Fermilab PAC meeting - Jan. 22-24
The Fermilab Physics Advisory Committee will meet from January 22-24, 2013 to review new proposals and other aspects of the Fermilab science program. The agenda can be found on the PAC webpage. All employees are welcome to attend the presentations in the open part of the meeting, which will be held in 1 West.

C2ST talk: The Nature of Nano 2 - Jan. 30
On Thursday, Jan. 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Argonne Lab will host a C2ST lecture: The Nature of Nano 2. From tennis rackets to sunscreen, from stained glass windows to computer memory, the applications of nanoscale materials research are all around us. A reception and poster session begins at 6:30; the presentation begins at 7. The lecture is free and open to the public. Registration is required. ICFA Neutrino Panel town meeting - Jan. 30-31
The ICFA Neutrino Panel invites members of the neutrino community to a town meeting at Fermilab Jan. 30-31. Interregional collaboration and cooperation are becoming increasingly important for planning and executing the world's future accelerator-based neutrino program. The meeting is one of three regional town meetings arranged to gather community input to help the panel promote international cooperation in the programís development. It is open to members of the neutrino community from Asia, Europe and the Americas.

2014 standard mileage reimbursement rate
The Internal Revenue Service and the General Services Administration have issued the 2014 standard mileage reimbursement rate for non Government owned vehicles. It is 56 cents per mile, effective January 01, 2014.

Free Introductory Yoga Classes Feb. 3 & 6
Are you new to Yoga or want to try it out for free? Meet our new certified instructor. Scottish country dancing meets Tuesday evenings at Kuhn Village Barn
Silk and Thistle Scottish country dancing is held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Kuhn Village Barn. The group and is taught by Doug Jensen. Chicago Brass Quintet - Fermilab Gallery Chamber Series - Jan. 26
Celebrating 50 years, this ensemble kicks off the 2014 Gallery Chamber Series with a concert of music by Vivaldi, Aaron Copland, Monteverdi, Bela Bartok and others on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 26 at 2:30 in the Second Floor Art Gallery. They have now performed across the United States, Canada, South America, and Asia. Highlights include performances at The Kennedy Center, Chautauqua Institute, and on WFMT, NPR and the CBC. Dirty Dozen Brass Band - Fermilab Arts Series - Jan. 25
"New Orleans' most passionate and well-known brass band that finds the funk regardless of which genre they decide to delve into." Hal Horowitz. The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world famous music machine, synonymous with genre- bending romps and high-octane performances. They revitalized the brass band in New Orleans and around the world, progressing from festivals in their early years to touring nearly constantly in the U.S. and in over 30 other countries on five continents.
