Heartland Blood Centers will hold a “Walk-In” Fermilab Blood Drive on Tuesday, Nov 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 8:00am to 2:00pm
Heartland Blood Centers will hold a “Walk-In” Fermilab Blood Drive on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 8:00am to 2:00pm using the Heartland Mobile Coach parked in the east lot of Wilson Hall. Check in & registration to be held at Wilson Hall ground floor east. No appointment required. Double Red Cell Donations will be available on a First Come/First Served basis. Donors receive Warm Heart Club Points to spend on merchandise & gift cards at Heartland's online store.
Barn Dance at Warrenville Community Building Oct. 13
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Warrenville Community Building, 3S240 Warren Ave. (One block south of Butterfield and a block west of Batavia Rd.) We've got a stellar lineup with twin fiddling by Heather Malyuk and Debi Lewis and calling by Meg Dedolph! Everyone is welcome. You don't need to know anything, just come and have fun! New Wireless Guest Network Service now available
The new “guest” wireless network provides network access to on-campus guests for limited use for things such as web browsing and email. It provides the same access to the Fermilab network as one would have from offsite when not using VPN. Guests should select the “guest” network and will be redirected to the guest registration page after registration expires at midnight each day. On subsequent days, they must re-register. Fermilab public events and lectures canceled
The Fermilab site is open to the public, but the laboratory's public tours and events are cancelled for the duration of the lapse of federal funding.
Office of Science's Patricia Dehmer speaks at UChicago - Nov. 5
Patricia Dehmer, Deputy Director for Science Programs in the DOE Office of Science, will give a talk on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the University of Chicago Harper Center. The talk is titled "Facing Our Energy Challenges in a New Era of Science." Lepton flavor violation course in lecture series begins Oct. 8
The lepton flavor violation course in the new Allure of Ultrasensitive Experiments academic lecture series begins on Oct. 8. Come hear scientists talk about the theory behind lepton flavor violation, lepton flavor violation searches in muons and in other systems, the Mu2e experiment, the magnetic moment of the electron, and the electron electric dipole moment. Flu vaccination information
Sign-up for this season's flu shot is now available online. The Fermilab Medical Office will administer flu shots on Oct. 3, 8, 10 and 15. Read more about the Medical Office's flu vaccination administration in the Sept. 9 issue of Fermilab Today.
International folk dancing meets at Baker Community Center - Oct. 10
International Folk Dancing takes place on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Baker Community Center, 102 S. 2nd St. in St. Charles, from 8 to 10 p.m. There is instruction and dances for children and newer dancers early and request dancing later on. Newcomers are always welcome. More info at

SPIE Digital Library Online Trial at Fermilab
The world's largest collection of full-text articles on optics and photonics applied research is now available. We have site-wide online access to the SPIE Digital Library http://spiedigitallibrary.org/ through October 21. This includes all SPIE conference proceedings, journals and eBooks. The purpose of the trial is to see if there is enough interest here to warrant a site-wide subscription. Please send comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Indoor Soccer Now on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Indoor soccer will be held in the Fitness Center Gym begining September 24 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm. Please note that this is a change to previously scheduled Wednesdays and Fridays.
