Same-Sex Couples Now Eligible for Immigration Benefits
A U.S. Supreme Court decision makes same-sex couples eligible for the same immigration benefits as heterosexual couples. The decision, issued on June 26, 2013, struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The USCIS and Dept. of State immediately began making the necessary changes to implement this. Petitions for permanent residence, fiancée visas, and temporary visas such as H, J, F and O (and more) will be able to be filed on behalf of same-sex couples as long as the marriage occured in a place that recognized same-sex marriage at the time it was celebrated. Contact Amanda Thompson in Fermilab's Visa Office if you have questions. All discussions will be confidential.

Site Wide Domestic Water Flushing
FESS/Ops has tentatively scheduled the Site Wide Domestic Water Flush for Saturday 6-29 and Sunday 6-30 with a rain/storm date of 7-13 and 7-14. This is an annual event starting at approximately 0600am and continuing through approximately 1800pm each day. During this time it is not unusual to notice an excessive amount of water on the road ways, standing puddles around fire and flushing hydrants, lower than normal domestic water pressure, discoloration in the water and for those monitoring firus low pressure alarms as well. Typically, not long after each area has been flushed, the water pressure returns and discoloration clears up. This has been, by in large, a transparent process in previous years and we anticipate this year to be the same. We would ask everyone to be mindful of our flushing personnel during this time frame, as a portion of their work will be performed in the roadways around Fermilab and would like to thank you in advance for your consideration during this time. Questions/comments/concerns contact FESS/Ops Mechanical Supervisor John Pollock (JP) at x5253, cell (630)659-6211, email pollockj@fnal.gov shop Superintendent Greg Gilbert at x6835, cell (630)404-0106 email gilbert@fnal.gov and or Mechanical Scheduler and Planner Steven L. Shirley at x3007, cell (630)951-5300, email shirley@fnal.gov.
