Fermilab Lecture Series Presents Particles, Fields & The Future - Lecture by Dr. Sean Carroll
With the recent discovery of the Higgs boson, particle physicists have completed the Standard Model, a towering accomplishment. But we know that the Standard Model can't be the whole story - there must be other particles. New particles can hide from us in two ways: they cost a lot of energy to produce, or they interact very rarely with ordinary matter. Physicists are pushing forward on both frontiers in order to construct a more complete picture of reality. Dr. Carroll will be speaking as part of the Annual Users Meeting, and as part of the ILC's "From Design to Reality" event. Lecture starts at 8 pm in Ramsey Aud. Tickets - $7 - call 840.ARTS or go to www.fnal.gov/culture to order online

Volunteer Opportunity - Coat Drive 2013

Many circumstances may cause a member of the Fermilab community to need winter apparel. Unprepared students and visitors from warm weather climates or those impacted by recent flooding may welcome assistance with winter clothing. The drive will fill this need free of charge to recipients. Gently used and new coats, new hats, scarves, and mittens will gladly be accepted. Apparel not selected will be donated to a local charity. To become involved with this project, contact Barb Hehner at bhehner@fnal.gov or Sandra Charles at scharles@fnal.gov.
