Budker Seminar: May 13, 5:00 - 7:00 pm, User's Center, free pizza and refreshments will be served, any questions, please contact Slava Yakovlev yakovlev@fnal.gov Speaker: Yury Tokpanov - Title: "Optical Amplifier for Optical Stochastic Cooling" - Abstract: Optical stochastic cooling (OSC) is a technique of particle beam cooling, suggested in early 90's. Instead of RF electromagnetic waves (EW), used in conventional stochastic cooling, optical EWs perform cooling of particle beams. The main advantage of OSC is a very wide amplification bandwidth, provided by optical amplifiers (100 THz for the case of Titanium sapphire amplifier). This may allow for tremendous decrease in beam cooling time.

Changes to US Visa Procedures - PLEASE READ
Beginning April 30, the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection will eliminate the Form I-94 Card that has been stapled into passports to show admission and visa status. This could have a big impact on visa holders at Fermilab. To prevent problems from arising, Fermilab's Visa Office recommends that visa holders: -Access an online database after admission to print/download the electronic record. -Hand in a copy of the electronic record printout when departing the U.S. -Verify departures are recorded accurately by accessing the online system from outside the U.S. For full information and recommendations, see http://wdrs.fnal.gov/visas/I94Elimination.html.
