Fermilab Barn Dance Jan. 20
The Fermilab Folk Club presents a Barn Dance on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Kuhn Village Barn with music by Debi Lewis & Friends. Meg Dedolph calls. Everyone is welcome. URA Visiting Scholars Program deadline - Feb. 25
Universities Research Association has announced a deadline of Feb. 25 for the submission of applications for the spring 2013 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program at Fermilab. Award recipients will be notified at the end of March. These awards provide financial support for faculty and students from URA's 85 member universities to work at Fermilab for periods of up to one year. Series on the Bible book of Daniel - begins Jan. 22
At noon on January 22, the Bible Exploration for Lunch League plans to begin discussing the Bible book of Daniel. For Tuesday lunch hours you are invited to share in the survey of this incredible part of the Bible that has been preserved in multiple copies in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and whose prophecies were cited by Jesus to be fulfilled after his death. UChicago panel discussion on Higgs discovery - Feb. 7

2013 FRA scholarship applications accepted until April 1
Fermi Research Alliance, LLC (FRA) offers a number of four-year scholarships to children of regular full-time FRA employees. The scholarship award continues for a maximum of four years provided the student remains in a four-year undergraduate program and maintains satisfactory academic progress. The maximum scholarship award amount available for tuition and fees is $4,700 per year. Applications are being accepted through April 2nd for the 2013 FRA scholarship awards. Building Bionics Lecture - January 18 - Fermilab Lecture Series
Amazing developments are being made each day in the possibilities for those with limb loss. Dr. Kuiken has been renowned for his research in developing a surgical technique called Targeted Muscle Reinnervation(TMR). With TMR it is possible to take the residual nerves in an amputated limb and transfer them to spare muscle and skin in or near the limb. The nerves grow into this muscle, and then the surface EMG over this muscle can be used as an additional control signal. Gallery Chamber Series - Metropolis Quartet - Jan. 20 @ 2:30
Gallery Chamber Series takes place in the intimate 2nd floor art gallery with Sunday afternoon concerts, followed by a reception with the performers. Our first artists of the 2013 season are the Metropolis Quartet. Metropolis performs the major oboe quartet (oboe, violin, viola, cello) repertoire, written by composers such as Mozart, J.C. Bach and Benjamin Britten. They also seek out lesser-known works by composers, and take familiar melodies and perform their own arrangements.
